2001, 6-cylinder, 4wd, x-cab, beat to hell and back with a million miles on it but it was an amazing price and the innards are in great shape all things considered.
I'm here to find out about getting the best gas mileage possible and setting this thing up as a bugout vehicle. Perhaps 2nd gas tank?
Secondarily, it appears there are some pretty awake people on here-which is very awesome. Molon Labe!

Welcome to TW. There are a lot of different ways to work your truck to get the optimum mileage. What are you getting right now? We can start from there.

Welcome to TW. I have been looking into aux fuel tanks and it looks like you pretty much have two options, first to remove your spair tire and put it there with a relay pump to your main tank. Second option is to put it in the front of the bed again with a relay pump or gravity fed. There have been a few threads on this topic both on function and legality. I don't see removing the spair as an option so I am looking at having a custom tank built to slide in under my tool box 44 x 18 x 8.5 inch which works out to be 29 gallons. Hope you enjoy your truck !

Ok... promise not to laugh? 390K.
So, yeah, it'll be pretty interesting to see just how long it lasts. The cool thing is that even with a blown engine I could sell it for what I paid for it, easy.

I wouldn't want to dump the spare either. The 2nd option sounds best. are you sure it needs to be custom? It seems with all the survival/prepper craze right now that somebody would be offering these in various sizes for popular vehicles.
