My passenger side rubber strip has blown out twice in the car wash. Service dept. says nothing can be done. One post says some adhesive has helped fix the problem; any suggestions as to what adhesive to use?

Reviving an old thread to not clutter up the forums.

I just took my roof rack off and decided to go another direction. So I am putting my moldings back on. Problem is. No more clips on the drivers side to hold it in. I want to glue them in so they don't back out. I just filled the holes from the rack with silicon. But what adhesive should I use that is not gonna rip off in a year or two.

that was me on 2009. Came off partially on hwy at 65. It started thumping the roof. I pulled over and took it off completely. I noticed damage 2 months later while standing on 4 wheeler on trailer. Under warranty so Toyota replaced rubber and fixed dents.

Called dealer in a neighboring town (toyota knoxville are the worst dealership in east tn) so went with Rick McGillis. Has 5 clips in stock for 1.09 a piece . How do the clips attach? Mine look like they are under they paint.

Just in case anyone reads this.

3m weatherstrip and gasket adhesive in black or yellow works amazing. Cleaned everything up and put it on the strips as well as the truck. Gave it about 5 minutes.... this stuff is quick. Then put the strips on very carefully. Pressed them down each section about 5 min in 1ft sections. And then let it sit for about 5 hours..... I couldn't pull them back up... so I highly doubt they will be blowing off anytime soon.

My passenger side came off. Local body shop ordered me one. I just put some adhesive on it and clamped it for a few hours

In case you didn't notice there's a note at the end of the product description stating the following: This product is also not designed to replace your OEM roof molding, this trim is designed to sit right on top of your existing factory molding and enhance the current look. So since you're missing your OEM molding these might not do you much good.
