I can't imagine how these things have good ratings on pretty much every site I visited. I can only guess it's new buyer reviews and people aren't coming back after a month or so to update their review. They did go on easy enough and they looked great. The fabric itself still looks great but the seams are already falling apart. I couldn't bring myself to $250+ on seat covers but I also didn't want to buy the $50 sets off the store shelf.

My truck is my daily commuter but it is also the vehicle we take for day trips or camping trips. I don't off road heavily like some of you guys do, but I do spend a lot of time in the mountains. I assumed they wouldn't get abused like someone climbing in and out constantly covered in mud or sand etc.

So, I decided to purchase the CoverKing Neosupreme seat covers from Amazon which come in around $150. I knew I wasn't getting CR grade Neoprene but a lot of the reviews said these things were a great next option.

These pictures are from my truck, at this point the covers have only been installed for 3 weeks give or take a few days.

*If you need extra proof that that is indeed the passenger side, note the CrabTree and Evelyn lotion in the door. A sure sign of a female intruder.

I tried to contact CoverKing first to see what they would say. Honestly I was hoping for an admission of some sort that the seat covers should hold up longer. Here is the back and forth from their website:

    Hello,

I recently purchased from Coverking through Amazon, order #
103-4664444-1961821 and installed in my 2009 Toyota Tacoma a set of front
Coverking Neosupreme seat covers. Initially I was very happy with how they
looked and felt. However, very quickly I am starting to see some pretty
major signs of wear and it has me concerned about the how long these covers
are going to last. They have only been on my truck for 2-3 weeks.

I understand I did not buy the true neoprene seat covers, but at $150.00 I
am expecting these to last for a couple of years at least.

Attached are some pictures showing some of the wear I am talking about.
Attachement ending in 3812 and 4915 are pictures of the Driver side seams,
3017 is of the passenger side seam, 8089 is of the driver side head rest.

    Please advise.

    Thank you,
    Luke

    Hi Luke:

    Thank you for the photos.

I'm sorry but I was not able to locate your order here by your name and the order # changes from Amazon to us. I am thinking this may have been a bulk order from them? If you'd like to send me your shipping address, I can double check.

We do have a one year warranty on all of our seat covers so any pieces that fail can be sent back for repair or replacement if we cannot repair. Or you may want to address a return with Amazon if you are not happy with the quality or want to exchange this for another material.

    Thank you.

    Carol

    -----------------

It was a one off order from Amazon. Not bulk. I understand the warranty and the return. My questions was, is the wear I am seeing normal? I don't want to send them back to you or Amazon to only see the next set be the same subpar quality

    Luke

    -----------------

The above statement is based off of the photo fact that I am seeing bad wear in all aspects of my product. If it was just one seat cover, or just one head rest I would assume I got a bad part. This is not the case here in that my product seems to be failing across the board.

    Luke

    -----------------
    Hi Luke:

Yes, I did find your order with your address.

It is hard to say how the wear would be because it depends on how and who is using the seat covers. We do not have any set estimate on the expectancy of a seat cover life.

If you'd like to return some of the pieces that are showing wear, we can either repair or (most likely) send replacement pieces. I would have to provide you with a return authorization # in order for you to undertake this.

If you are not happy with the material durability, then you may want to pursue a return or exchange for a different material through Amazon.

Let me know if you prefer that I send you the RMA #. Thank you.

    ------------------------

I have decided to just return them to Amazon and purchase the true Neoprene seat covers from CoverKing. I know they are not Wet Okoles but they are still $40-$60 less than WO's. If they turn out to also not be the best quality, I will return these and buy WO's.

    that sucks man.
I had the mesh coverkings for 4 years and loved them but eventually my big@ss wore them out.
so then I got the Wet Ukalalies and I had a seam come apart on them but I can't send them back once they are installed so I had to do a hack sewing repair on them myself (it's hidden so it didn't have to be all purdy).

hope it all gets straightened out for ya.

It was right where the tightening strap attaches so it was kind of understandable but a little disappointing. I might have had them too tight or something.

That spot felt weak on the Coverkings too. I remember thinking when I was putting them on that if they failed it would be there.

I understand Wet Ukalales are loved on this site, but just like everything else, they have their issues. Some basic goog'ling will find just about as many satisfied/unsatisfied customers on both products both sides. I don't want to start an argument about the products. My issue is with the set of seat covers I got and the neosupreme material.

When doing anything requiring money you have to take a lot of things into consideration. You can buy $25 seat covers off the shelf at the auto part store or you can buy $1k seat covers. I've had a set from Auto Zone last me 2 years with minimal wear. I wouldn't say opting to save $150 on a product that should still fit my needs is "scimping." For the most part I agree that you should buy the best, but a lot of times we don't need the best and the money saved is better spent elsewhere. Especially if the "best" is purely based on opinion.
