Good things to know. Bags would've been my next "upgrade" if my camper were to create too much sag! Hope my leaf pack is up to the task!:D

I see where your going here but P metric tires weight capacity greatly exceeds the tacoma's maximum tow weight, I tow with them and the ride is considerably better then it was with my E range duratracs. Not all P metrics are created equal.

I also use airbags and a weight dristribution hitch. Previously I didn't have the airbags and since installing them the vehicle tows much better. Proper weight distribution setup here is key with or without airbags. I went to a weigh station and weighed each axel. From there I adjusted my WDH to be balanced out. Most common mistake is overloading the WDH and having the trailer sway and bounce.

An acceptable length of trailer vs. tow vehicle wheelbase is 20' of trailer for the first 110" of wheelbase. You can then add an additional 1' of trailer for each additional 4" of wheelbase. So the tacoma with a 140.6 wheelbase is right at the 27' mark, it's not "blown out of the water".

I would agree that 27'-28' is maximum for these trucks and the tow vehicle should be properly setup with a WDH, sway control, a good brake controller and proper tow mirrors. At that length you aren't winning any racing but you can safely tow when properly setup in my opinion.

So for all you guys not good at math, that would be a max 24 foot trailer for most Tacomas as most are 127 inch wheelbase including mine. Fact is 27 is too long for the Xcabs and short Dcabs. If you have a long bed (140") 27 might work and is still a stretch due to your capacity for towing weight being less as that truck weighs a little more. I stand by the air bag statement, they can do more harm than good and put the weight carrying point on the truck in a spot it was not designed to be. May not be a large issue until you hit a bump, railroad track or something. Still less than ideal. the TSB springs work perfectly at 24 foot length and 3900lb unladen weight/4700lb loaded weight. I know it is hard for some to get them, but mine have always gone back up after towing and show no signs of sag. I highly recommend them if you tow. I think the Tacoma World Towing bible supports this.

I rented the trailer from the base. I forget the brand of it but it was a 5X8 trailer. I was really surprized by how much space is in those little trailers.
It seemed like a perfect pair for the tacoma. It tracked in the same path as the truck and being 5ft. wide I was able to see perfectly behind the truck and trailer.

If I were to buy one I would get 15 inch tires, better axel, keep the same width axel but extend the enclosed part over the wheel wells, same height, and make it a 12-14 ft long. I think a V-nose would have helped but it really wasn't bad at all.
That setup would hold two atvs and tow like a dream. Not to mention it may fit in the garage and could be an awesome weekend warrior camper sort of deal. I'm considering selling my 7x16 because it's far to large for what I need anymore.

Pre salvage era. This was about a 4K loaded trailer. Brakes lasted about 75K w/o controler. Transmission fluid never smelled burnt. Totaled the truck at 76K right after I dumped new brakes and shocks into it. T-Boned a Taurus that pulled out in front of me.
