Oh yeah dude I'm getting one built eventually and I really want to get rid of that giant rack of mine. Move the hi lift inside, and get a low profile full length roof rack. Anyone want to fab a rear bumper for me?

for what it is, LT is not really worth it. I don’t know of any really open off roading in TN that you would really benefit from LT. i’d say maybe go mid travel. also LT makes the truck quite a bit wider.

I know sun day the fasted we went was like 35 or so and that was not far, it was a just a gravel road, that they keep up really good well and does not have much bumps. but does have some bling turns. I don’t think we really got over 20mph most the day.

Dude .......... I live with a 4 year old and you and him would have a pretty strong competition on time it takes to piece words together to create an English sentence and someone be able to comprehend it.

As for what I think u said, having LT as a trail truck is not "ideal" but it is not as bad as you think. Take a jeep for example. Most people would say that jeeps are the perfect trail truck. Have you ever noticed how wide people make jeeps!? And I'm not talking about those old ass little jeeps, I mean the more modern day ones that are all over the trails. It's very easy to make a jeep wide as shit but yet that's what a lot of people do and they use them as trail trucks. So what's the difference? Yeah of coarse the wider you are, there's gonna be some trails that will be tight, but if you are running trails that you barely fit down and 4"-8" wider means that you can't fit, then you probably don't care too much about body damage or trail carnage.

    Just.. Haha.
Anyways. As far as off-roading goes, I'd like to move to Nevada, and LT is pretty useful out there from what I see. Although I'd probably go for a pretty built mid-travel just to keep myself on the trails. And if I did that I'd probably want a 1st gen, or a 94. My '12 just doesn't feel like a trail truck. Of course my last truck was a 94 4x4 V6 Manual. Not fast, but I wasn't afraid to get it dirty.

For you guys around Memphis, I have been tempted to go screw around at Covington Pike. Is this a dumb idea? Is there a spot or 3 that I can mess around with the 4 wheel drive and not destroy my 2012? Im not looking for real challenging stuff, I just want to lock in 4 wheel and mess around........ Any input? Or suggestions on where I could do some light weight wheeling?

LT has its many advantages. One of them is obviously for prerunning but it can have an advantage on the trails. The biggest issue with IFS is suspension travel. LT provides more suspension travel. With a mid travel setup on a 4wd, u will see around 9" of wheel travel. A 2" over kit provides somewhere in the 10"-11" range, a 4" over provides 13"-14". This makes for a huge advantage with trying to keep the wheels on the ground. So while your truck gets fatter, it also becomes more capable. Also a HUGE part in how well your suspension works is shock valving. You can run a 6" over LT kit and render it completely useless in the desert by valving the shocks for low speed.

I'm not picking on you Zach but LT on an IFS could save your ass on the trail where as you would be stuck with MT. The way I see it is build your truck however u like it and then figure out ways to use it to its potential. Some people may find it dumb to have a trophy truck in Tenn. because there is nowhere to use it, but if someone pulled up in one, your first reaction would be "that's badass!!!" and not "what an idiot, he can't even use that thing around here!"

Haha well its not the smartest idea u could have. The bottoms are huge and most of it is 4wheeler trails but there are also a lot of open areas for trucks. Problem is that most trucks that go down there are on tractor tires or 54s and turn those areas into death traps for smaller trucks. BUT, I don't know when u plan on goin, but ill be back in town this weekend if u still wanna go and need some company. I know some parts fairly well. Also know a few good spots to go shootin at that requires some offroading to get to

    lol.

yeah It’s not exactly ideal. I have been down a trail i had to fold a mirror in on. so ya LT would not fit on that trail. They extra wheel Travel and wider track is nice. (more stable.) But hell even one of the traila me and funrunner went on would be super tight with LT. specially when trying to pass atv’s/UTV’s or even other trucks, jeeps.

also from what i have read there is not many 4wd kits out on the market. and they are pretty damn expensive.

That's kinda the way i feel when i see guys driving around in raptors around here. there's nowhere to put the jumping ability of them to good use around here. yeah, they're capable in all kinds of wheeling, but i think a well built tacoma would run circles around a raptor on lots of tennessee's wheeling opportunities.
