    Well I think I found my odd noise (sounded like an exhaust leak all along) Pulled my heat shield off manifold is cracked just about all the way around :(

    A-Weld it
    B-Replace it with later model toyota header
    C-F it!!!
    D-Replace with aftermarket header

    Advise, best place to buy?...

    NO CEL which me and the toyota/lexus schooled guy at hobby shop thought was odd...

    Pix to come shortly.

    Im leaning toward toyota header from later model tacoma

    i went aftermarket for two reasons.
    cheaper than buying a new one from toyota
    more space

    ARB Bumper, Hella 500FFs, OME 881 Coils and Front shocks, OEM style leafsprings with 2in ToyTec Shackles, Bilstein 5125 Rear Shocks, Aero 2525 Muffler, AEM Intake, Talyor Throttle Body Spacer, LCE Header, Bestop Soft Top.
    I'd go for a LC engineering Header:D. I love mine. Stay away from Pacesetter headers, heard nothing but bad from them hunks of crap:poking:. Doug Thorley makes a header to but I've never seen or used one:notsure:. Just my $.2:)

    My wife's 96 had this and we went stock..her choice. I'd think about header but no suggestion from me.

    No CEL doesn't shock me, my wife's didn't trip the light either.

    tacotacoma-whew thats nice but I cant justify spending the monies for it.

    I think im going to go with a 01+ 'header'. Going to order something tomorow

    Either order from a dealer in Dallas, a toyota shop over in seattle wa area, or the local dealer.

    Whatevers the cheapest quickest :) Will just use some felpro gaskets.

    Im catching lots of flack from my chevy buddy and my used to be toyota jumped ship to nissan buddy lol

    This is what I did to my 96 2.7 when my manifold cracked. Ordered it from Toyota of Dallas.com I think, anyway this part bolted right up and have had no problems. Nice thick flange.

    And about Welding the stock cast manifold. I wouldn't even try. It's a very porous alloy of iron and some other shit, doesn't weld very well...and it will just end up cracking again soon enough
