If you want to go in the woods and use it for what It is built for a 650 is way too much to handle in the tight trails just overall way to heavy to move around and if you dump or get stuck good luck too you. 250-450 is ideal but only if the 250 has a 6th gear and if i am not mistake the only one is Honda. On this order below is how I would have it If i wanted a newer bike but i love my dual carber once that secondary opens BYE BYE
    250cc
    1. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/595/0/home.aspx
    2. http://powersports.honda.com/2013/crf250l/street.aspx
    400+cc
    1.http://www.suzukicycles.com/Product%20Lines/Cycles/Products/DR-Z400/2013/DRZ400SM.aspx with DOT dirt tires
    2http://www.ktm.com/us/enduro/500excusa/highlights.html#.UWODjRzqlJ0

Now the reason I've posted two Super Moto's is because they ARE a dirt bike with the motoX suspension with slicks. Throw so Dual Sport or Dirt DOT tires on it and you have an ANIMAL on the street and Off road.

I agree with you, a 650 would be a beast of a woods bike and very tough to maneuver in a tight trail. In all honesty though, my riding will be likely 80% road and the remaining 20% will be more open trails and power lines, not tight, technical trails if I can avoid it. I've had an old XT500 in the woods at home (tight trails) with very open gearing and I ended up overheating the clutch because I couldn't feather it in the tight sections. I will definitely have to pick and choose where I go off road, or make sure I have people who can help me out if I get it stuck since it doesn't weigh that much less than a sport bike. It's definitely going to be a heavy bike and I'm not a big guy

Depending on how it rides, I could always mess with the sprockets and gear it down to help make it a little more managable in the tight trails and hopefully without sacrificing much on the top end. But, I need to get it first, I'm trying to work out a trade with another local TW member and we just need to meet up, swap bikes and test them out but hopefully all goes smoothly :)

If I could have any (reasonable) bike, I'd put that 400sm or KTM's supermoto (I think it's a 520?) at the top of my list, I'm not sure about the order after that but the DR650 would still be in my top 5.

Anyone want to try my part time job? If you think you've seen and heard it all about what morons the average bear can be, try running a dart league. The utter stupidity sometimes scares me, especially since you must be 21 yrs old to play.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
When I was 18 I thought it was stupid that I couldn't drink (legally). When I was 21 I thought, wow now I know why I couldn't drink at 18. When I was 25 I thought to myself, I'm surprised they let me drink when I was 21. I did a lot of stupid shit when I was younger. LOL

Nah, just that you'd think people who are "legally" adults would have common sense and courtesy for people..like calling me at 1:30AM drunk off their asses.
