I wouldn't call it bitter but I'm not impressed with the Tacoma's fuel economy :notsure:

But this was going 55mph on the freeway with my foot on the gas. But it doesn't matter. Nobody believes me anyhow. That's okay. I know that it got good gas mileage. And that's all that really matters. :)

Yea, mine isn't bad, but I wouldn't say impressive either.

By "20+" I'm assuming everyone here means 20.5 or maybe 21 mpg? 'Cause there's no way you're getting more than that in the combined cycle for any V8 (or equivalent ie. Ecoboost) engine gas full-size truck. For reference, the only new full-sized trucks getting above 21 HIGHWAY are the Ram 1500 with 2wd and the Pentastar V6 (at an optimistic claimed 25 mpg) and the F150 2wd with the base, non-Ecoboost V6 (at a claimed 23 mpg). Also, anyone posting reported MPG based on their dash display or a single tank of gas over the course of one trip needs to stay away from the internets.

Can we all get along, I bought my beloved Tacoma, because I want a Tacoma, I bought it for dependability , re-sale value, and I wanted one, it's not a full size truck ,so we can't compare it to one, as for gas mileage I agree the newer full size models w/ new technology will get better fuel mileage, and Toyota needs step up, but TRUE Toyota owners buy them because you can't kill them or it's hard to do. How many others sites have a section just for 10-15 year old trucks? Not many, My daily driver is a Ford F-450, and I get 7mpg. With that said I get ribbed every time I'm with my buds, they all drive full size 4x4's penis extensions trucks, but it's funny when we go off on a long hunting trip they fight to see who rides with me,they say I get better fuel mileage, imagine that.my .02

If you pay close attention to the photo you will see, though a bit blurry, the the "AVG" indicate is lit, which means that she has the setting on Average economy. Your BMW was most likely set on the "IST" or instant economy, which will change quite rapidly, and show quite high when you let off the gas.

I am one of those who believes you. I have seen it myself on many GM trucks. Had several that I drove that were averaging 22-26 MPG. One of the things that is not widely known is that for every MPH over 55, your fuel economy suffers exponentially. This is mostly due to poor aerodynamics of a truck. These days the newer trucks are being built more aerodynamic, thus increasing their MPG.

The best way to maintain the maximum MPG is to drive easy, and don't try to accelerate from a stop so quickly. Ease into the pedal. Also don't drive 80MPH on the interstate. You can lose as much as 30% fuel economy at those speeds.

I've been getting 20-21 on my 13' DCLB... Not too bad and I don't baby it. 80 mile round trip to work. Back roads minimal traffic.

I have had 2 full size dodges (5.7) avg. MPG 15 and a GMC 2500 HD avg. MPG 13... The guys that are saying 25 are probably correct... On a flat highway, unloaded, driver only and following a big rig... Wind resistance is huge.

I would like to drive the new Dodge (under normal conditions) I don't believe it...

My 2013 ford raptor screw got 12 mpg on a good day in Houston traffic before I traded it in. 36 gallon tank was killing me...

My friend has an ecoboost 5.3 Silverado, and it does get every bit of 23mpg on the highway.

Any diesel with the right tune can get 25mpg easily.
