I did find it rather amusing that this site is in some ways laid out like a dating site. Age? Most recent viewers of profile? Really? LOL!

    Welcome to TW.

You don't need to run the tank dry to see what MPG you are getting.

    To see MPG:
    - Go to gas station and fill up. Reset tripometer to 0.
    - At any time, say 1/2 tank, you can fill back up (using same gas station).
    - Take note of how many gallons were put in and divide by mileage on tripometer.

Actually you don't need to run it dry. Fill it up once and mark down current mileage. Drive until you are around half a tank, then fill it back up. Take note of how much gas, and the number of miles since the first fill. Divide and there you have it, a quick approximation of mileage. Of course if you want a more accurate estimation you should do this no less than a total of 5 times and average the numbers out.

Lol. Yeah, you will find some guys here who are normal, and some who are horndogs. LMAO. Just like you would anywhere else in the world! Take most of it with a grain of salt. You will not find a bunch of people who will help like this group will anywhere else. Tons of information on this site from Mods to questions to humor and just plain craziness! I love this group!

Now, now MTGirl....No need to bash them all! hahaha. And I do agree, 390k actual miles would be interesting to see. Photo of the odometer possible?

Female? you are a pessimist if you think this thing stops at 4 pages.

 Welcome! I'm glad I'm married or there would be an attempt to meet a chick here in CA who 1: Likes tacomas 2: Properly uses "bugout" vehicle. 3: Quotes conservatives in her sig.

If you aren't married, it's a darn shame.

One of my first jobs was at a toyota dealer here in socal. I remember taking in a Tacoma with honest-to-god-one-owner 345k on the odometer. I went to the manager and suggested putting it in the showroom to show reliability and he said: "You dumbass.. we get 5 of those a month, and if we did we would never sell another extended warranty again! You think the finance guys would appreciate that? Now go get his new truck washed."

    Yeh.. true story. lol

The record on any vehicle I have ever personally seen was a Chevy Astro van that hit 1,000,000 miles in Daytona beach. GM corporate actually came down and traded him even up for any vehicle on the lot, then took his Astro van to Detroit. Guy drove off with a brand new Corvette.

Care to elaborate? Seems like an accurate statement.

OP, care to share what you paid for it? I'm another member of the high mileage/low price club. Paid $5K for my '07 with 190K miles :yay:

They're contradictory statements. People who support them will disagree of course, but I'm never going to change their minds.

Just simple proof that it's not about consistency, it's about making other people do what you want. Who cares if you're a hypocrite as long as others validate your opinion, right?

Ron Paul seems very deep to college kids and those who think like them. Then you get out in the real world for a bit. He seems like a nice guy, but he's confused about quite a few things.

Parts of his ideas are quite logical. Then other parts go off the deep end. Libertarianism (absent of political ideology) is an interesting philosophy, but the problem is that setting mutually agreed upon limits to personal freedom for the greater good is pretty much the founding concept of every society. At least in theory.

No worries about "sounding short". Inflection just plain doesn't translate in text.
