Most people who are ignoring the spotter are doing it because of a lack of trust. There's situations where that driver is hella off camber and wants to get flat, or maybe they are really close to a tree and they want to turn away when the spotter is telling them to turn towards it. Those people don't realize that the spotter sees a pothole or a helping bit of terrain that will keep things safe, and instead they are too consumed with their instinct.
The other types are the guys who are bored or too eager and can't wait for the spotter to assess.

LOL, so it's going to be you, huh? I was thinking I was going to have to silence Rob again this year.

BBQ? For what? Just bring wood for the fire. :D
The steak and corn cooks beautifully over the firepit. The potatos...not so much, but the third time is the charm from what I hear.

You were the first person I winched out with that winch. I bring it up all the time :D. I even used the shackle hitch receiver that you now own. At least I think you're the one I sold it to.

Hahaha, I think I'm one of those guys...

Remember last year? Bobert was going under Cedar Tree, and I thought: "Oh, I'll just shimmy my long-ass truck through these skinny little trees. No spotter, oh well, better keep my eyes on the driver's side ONLY". One passenger mirror later...

Oh lawdy, the right side of my truck is so beat up.:pout:
Either way, looking forward to it again this year!

hahaha! I've done something similar backing through some trees. It wouldn't have been a problem if the mirrors would fold the other way. Still have to replace that one...

The upper portions of FB5 are a nightmare for tight corners and trees, iirc. I quit doing those sections a very long time ago. Never got tagged, but it got pretty tedious.

Maybe I'll have to bring my bike too. Haven't had it out to TSF or done a lot of technical riding yet.

That was the month before I moved back to the mainland... Wish I was there for it

Every time i've ever gone out with Mike, Ben etc i've never had a worry about asking for a spotter. I've needed one from time to time. I don't think anyone will loose anything more than a mirror.

Eh, for a flop it was pretty uneventful and boring. I don't think any of us had dealt with that situation before. Well, I had rolled my truck a few years earlier, but it landed on its wheels. It was a lot of standing around and trying to figure out the least destructive way to right it.

I have not seen that guy on the forum for quite some time. I do remember seeing a de-motivational poster that used one of those pics, however.

Did you guys see the pics from our Evan's Creek - "Debacle in December"? That trip was full of crazy recoveries that tested all of our limits, intellect, and patience.

I want to say I remember reading something about it, but never saw pics.

Had a similar test of our abilities over winter break with a Gitout run.

Evan's and TSF are two different beasts, especially when you add nasty snow to Evans. Evans was hell mode and you just have to go through Satan's intestine. TSF you can always bail out pretty easy.

Yessir! Turns out someone from our group forgot their tow strap too. Post #42.

Round two was one of my fav snow runs to date. The original run...not so much haha. Way to many rigs for the trails and even worse once the conditions soured on us.

I know he got rid of his first account. Not sure if he's back with a different name or if he got banned, I know he liked to start crap in other portions of the forum.
