    It is official,

I have just sold my 08 Taco... Sad day for sure to say the least... 16 year old kid got it from his dad. I will miss all my time spent on these forums looking and drooling over trucks.

A special thanks goes out to all of the members in here that have helped me out so much: BlackTacoma23, BeeRadd, TheTraveler, AsianAnts, Sandjunkie, etc. The list goes on, if I did not mention you I apologize.

I am going to get a 2010 Prius IV with the solar roof sometime this week, waiting for that to come through and start saving some coin on gas.

I am a full time college student working part time right now, and I have started to incur all of my gas expenses on my own from now on. I cannot justify spending $600 a month on gas when I am still a college student, while also paying income taxes and car payments as well. That's why I am getting the Prius and selling the truck. Saving me about $400-$500 a month just on gas, not to mention saving money on car payments every month... So, priorities come first. Hopefully later on in 10 years or so I can buy myself a Tacoma and re-live this wonderful experience I have been experiencing for the last almost 2 years.

I have a girlfriend anyways, so it's not like I am trying to impress anybody with my car anymore ;) Plus, that extra coin can buy me some more dates and goodies for myself ! Until then...

Sorry to hear about selling your Tacoma. $600 is a lot for gas. I'm driving a 2.7L 4 and spending about $150 - $200 month on gas with about a 30 mile per day commute to work.

We did buy the 4 cylinder as it cost less and I knew that gas was never going back down again - and quite frankly, as much as I love those V6 Tacomas I like my gas expenses to be less than my truck note.

    Good luck to you!

I do a daily 34 mile commute round trip for school, but count in work and going back to school for studying and extra help in classes and hanging out with the girlfriend, and it adds up!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Sucks that beautiful truck went to a 16 year old kid, it will probably be trashed in no time. But good luck to you and come back soon!

Thank you. Let's just say that I wasn't the smartest in dumping so much money on this truck so early to just sell it and lose all the mod money... But on the flip side, at least I learned a lesson, a BIG one.

If I weren't to have to pay for all my own gas now, I would still have to once I move out when I graduate college in 2 years. Why keep the truck for 2 extra years and put 40,000+ miles on it and lose that much more money on it when I try to sell it then instead of just sell it now and get the most out of it. If I were to keep my truck, my monthly expenses would be 1500+ and I can't justify that being 19 and working part time and going to school full time, that's just foolish...

Gotta think for the future, I am gonna save a lot of money with the Prius and when I buy a house and am established, I will for sure get a Tacoma again and be back :)

Thought about it briefly, won't save me as much as a Prius would, and I like the functionality of the Prius more anyways, rather have a 4 door with more room for people and storage, as I always drive people around or haul a lot of stuff in my car.

Good point. That's why I got a 4 door. Dodge dart? That's my other choice. Lol

Please do not create threads asking what's the biggest tire you can fit on a Prius or what's the best 3" lift, because we don't know.

Although I am sure it is sad to see your truck go, it is a smart move. Good luck with the future.

Good luck, sounds like you are making a smart move though. Gas is pricey these days.

It may not be the popular move on this site but it's what works best for you. Good luck and I was eye balling this site pretty heavier in the last few days.

I am a student like you and I was in the same situation as you. Gas is too much expensive and I was really sad to see all this money spent fast. I still hesitate to sell my beautiful truck for an efficient turbo diesel 4X4. I know I will be soo sad if I see my truck with a different driver inside :(
