Bye Bye Taco

A Prius. I understand the gas savings. But why a Prius?

 

College student buys a NEW car to SAVE money... On Gas....? My math must be fuzzy cuz that chit don't add up....

You know, if you're not out to impress anybody, you can get a mid 00's Ford focus ZX3 for about $4-6k... They get over 30mpg... That's a helluva lot less than new Prius... Unicorns, rainbows, and ferry dust wont come out the tailpipe, but the Focus will be just as reliable and you'll save a TON of money. Just wait till you have to put tires on that Prius... Kiss all your fuel savings goodbye!

Here's a better option for saving gas while in college. Plus there are perks to parking.

Damn man, sad to see another taco leaves the forum. I sure enjoyed looking at the build. Although your reasoning appears solid, i question why you would buy a newish car if you are just trying to save gas? You could get a mid 2000's honda civic/accord with pretty good milage(30+) and you prob wouldnt have a car payment either as they arent nearly as pricey as that Prius you're looking at.

It is a shame you pumped all that mod money in to get none of it back really. Such is life, good luck man and be safe out there.

Basic in saving lives is knowledge.

 

Have you looked into a used vw golf or jetta tdi? Comfortable, solid car in my experience and will return 35-40 mpg in the city, highway you can get up to 55-60 if you drive it right too. Better performance than a Prius too! ;-)

Sorry you had to sell the taco! Never an easy decision. Good luck with the next car and hope to see you around here again in a few years!

 

c'mon there are some mods in here he could use, like Andre's Devil horn emblem! be the baddest Prius in the lot.

Well I plan to keep the prius for a while, until I get a house and am stable financially with a good job. I don't want to buy an older car with so many miles on it already, just to turn around and have to buy another car once the thing craps out.
