If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Last night we finished Mike's FamousFab shackle flip. It was a breeze, WAY easier than we thought it would be.

THEN, we mounted my finished skid plate (80lbs of pure BEEF). That was not so easy. The holes did not line up perfectly, so it took some persuasion to make it work. At least now I know the proper sequence/procedure to get it bolted up.

After all was said and done, it's on there and SOLID!

Pics to come later today, it's pouring here Olympia (imagine that).

Holy shit, 80# for IFS and Mid? How does the front end do with all the weight now?

Not too bad, I barely noticed a difference. Eric said his 3/16" IFS/Mid skids weigh in at 95lbs., so I was surprised when we put it on the scale.

Damn! I need to weigh my skids I guess. Mine are 1/4" with some angle iron welded on for reinforcement.

I might still have some work to do, but it's going to take Tallon this time :(
I need to utilize a bolt hole that's between the first and second hole, plus cut off all the other mounting holes, otherwise the shackle is going to be preventing uptravel

Good news is that we can use my existing mount as a template and it gives you an excuse to have a set built as well. :cookiemonster:

Don't mind me, just a new guy to the forum. Don't have a Tacoma YET (driving a '04 Frontier), but should hopefully be grabbing a new (to me, looking 2009-2011) Tacoma here in the next few weeks. Hoping I can join the "club".

Hope you guys don't mind if I ask about Tacoma price deals?

So, your leafs still aren't sitting right? Sounds like FamousFab has some flaws in his design??? I would bring this to his attention to see if he can alter/remedy it for you (after all you paid good money for his product).

It's not necessarily a design flaw. Every manufacturer's springs are a different length and it's difficult to get a shackle mount to accommodate all of the lengths. If I were FamousFab I would try to get the average overall length of the major manufacturer's spring (eye to eye) and make the appropriate holes. Even with that info the arc of the spring will be different with each truck and that will mess with the spring length. In Mike's truck, he will most likely need to get longer shackles.
