everyone keeps saying they want to haul stuff, and a 6 foot bed does it better...well, what all are you hauling that a foot makes a difference? I actually use my truck for work, and i don't have any problems.... Like i said before, I can haul wood, conduit, ladders, tools, drywall, plywood, etc with my 5' bed. i think some of you are just making up excuses ;) If i lived in the country, I would get the 6 foot bed, but in the city/suburbs, a 5' bed is much nicer.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
OK, so I like to drive into remote areas and camp. Yep... I'm a pretty serious outdoors guy. Also, I live in the Northwest and so it rains a lot.. yeah, it's really true - it's pretty wet up here. So often I don't want to get out in all that rain late at night to pitch my tent after driving for 3 hours on a Friday after working all day. So, often I'll just roll out my sleeping bag and bed down in the back end. I have a nice simple fiberglass canopy (shell) on it. Anyway, I'm a 6' tall guy and I usually am with my two dogs as well.. so, a 5' box wouldn't cut it for me. BTW- the long box is about 6' 6".. just right for me.

As for hauling stuff. I'm certain Toyota is going to call me up any day to get a look at how well my plastic (composite) bed is holding up because I haul a lot of stuff.. heavy scratchy stuff. Mainly core routers, data center servers and SAN boxes. This stuff is super expensive electronics and so it can't get wet. Also it's heavy.. sometimes 100 lbs or more each. And it's bulky. Well, most of this stuff is aprox 19" wide (to fit in an equipment rack) and maybe 3' deep. So I can lay 4 of them back there very nicely without having to stack them. Can't stack them.. tried it.. bad, very bad. Trust me.

So, for me the 6' bed is awesome. Now, I don't think I'd want to have to park a double cab with one of those long beds.. not here in the city anyway. geez those things are long! Mine is an access cab so it's really the same length as a double cab short bed (at least as far as I can tell at a casual glance).

Ditto. My setup is for work and the DC/LB with canopy (to secure my equipment) suits me just fine. I last had a 4runner so the turning/parking was quickly learned. Work occasionally takes me offroad and I plan to lift it a bit for clearance purposes. If I was mostly offroad a shorter vehicle would be preferred.

I like to use the bed in my truck a lot so I went with the long bed. I like the extra space. Came in handy many times

I use my DC LB in the city all the time and parking isn't an issue. After having the truck a few weeks you wouldn't know the difference. I guess it goes along with the guys arguing the extra foot of bed space won't make a difference, the same goes for parking and maneuverability.

Like those Body Side Moldings (BSMs) on the cab doors.

Those have an "OEM Look" ... Does anyone know where can you get them ... ??

    Thanks

I would prefer the long bed even though it is only a foot longer......I actually have a short bed because you can't get a dbl cab long bed with a stick........what's the logic for that????

I would also like to know where he got the side body molding

What is the difference in length exactly? And, where would it be measured?

I have a short bed, and like the look a lot better, BUT, I could definitely use the extra length of the long bed...

For some it's the difference in being able to close the garage door or not. :D

If you don't have an extra foot of floor space in the barn/garage then it IS impossible to maneuver it in and close the door.

As for mine, an extra foot means I wouldn't have room to walk around the front and rear while doing maintenance during the winter when I need to get the door closed. Well, at least without some major modifications to the barn itself. So yes, it DOES affect parking.

I have a long bed and love it, i still get into parking spaces really easy compared to these big domestic diesels and gassers, and i've been able to get alot of crap into the bed. Lumber, camping gear, motorcycle, coeds......you know, everyday items
