Good information. I thought I was getting some of the best cans out there. I know it doesn't really matter cause it is a gas can, but I like having the best. I am not really sure what the downfalls are with metal cans. Is there something wrong with metal cans that I am not aware of?

I cannot wait for this trip!

The Nato cans are good. They are the next best thing if you can't find Scepter cans. So don't think you have junk cans.

The problem with metal cans is they corrode and rust inside over time. They are also easier to dent and puncture than the plastic cans. Cheaper plastic cans can puncture pretty easily too, but there is a reason the military uses the Scepter cans. The military isn't exactly "easy" on fuel cans and the Scepter ones are the ones that perform best and hold up to the abuse.

would that motorcycle gas tank sealer help with rust? my dad and i used to clean and reseal our fuel tanks with these special chemicals, the last chemical in the series is a sealer.... wonder if that would stop,if not slow down the rusting?
