longer shock would mean longer compressed length thus limiting uptravel even more.

    I don't really have a problem.
I"m less than a mm from misalignment metal to metal both bump and droop. The hole in the core support (and shortening my bumps a little bit) is all I needed to get the extra inch of uptravel I was looking for.

But if you're limited up by 2" and have that much droop, it sounds like you have the wrong shocks. The Burg kit doesn't use a standard 8" stroke shock. It's a special order where the collapsed length is supposed to be 14.3" instead of 16"

Shock is perfect. While it's the limiter, a bigger shock isn't going to let me get any more travel out of the front, even with an engine cage. Misalignment spacers are just barely shy of metal to metal.

    True....unless engine cage.

The only benefit the 10's would give me is dual rate springs.
Would like it, but not gonna do it...too much rework and money

Truth. Something else is always broke on my truck so I focus my attention there.

If only. So pulling everything apart today made me realize how little I knew when I installed the kit and the bypasses and how important cycling and measuring is. Something just looked...off. Pulled out the tape measure and the bypass shaft was only measuring 7 5/8" instead of 8". And I originally set droop to match the coilover.
Meaning...my bypasses are bumping before my coilovers do. I pulled the bypasses apart and inside I found they had a 5/8" shaft spacer. Called up King and explained my predicament. They looked the specs on my kit and quickly told me that it looks like they built the bypasses with the wrong size spacer. It should have been a 1/4" spacer (making up for the 3/8" I was missing). Two new spacers in the mail, free of charge, and an an apology.
That said, it means I have to cut off the bypass tabs and weld new ones on about a half inch higher.

    TC or Burg...can't go wrong.
I'll admit it though, I did pull the "mine is better than yours" with JD on the travel numbers. :D

Oh and....oops. This explains why the coilover was such a pain in the ass to get out of the coil bucket

That's nothing. Ill get a pick once I get my truck back, my
Top plates look like tacos. Something is deffiately off on my front end. And I have the right shock, dsm took like 4 weeks to have it built by king.

If your top plates are bent then your coilbuckets must be bad too. Time to cut them out and to a shock hoop.

Yes. Id do a 10" shock personally . Shock hoop and cross bar over motor. Im thinking about it, I already got a secondary for 8" but I can cut it out.

Yes the top of my coil bucket is terribly bent. I think the problem is that I had engage top plates and they were too long and the shock is bottoming out before bump. Can I just build a shock hoop for the 8" co with out havein to do an entire engine cage?

Oh lol. Thats really bad on the arm too. Will lead to cracks ask me how i know. :p
And Yes you can I have seen it done before. All you need is a simple shock hoop from the frame and if best a simple bar going across the motor to support the shock mounts lateral support.

18" coils with flat bottom plates vs 16" coils with tapered.

That's why I said good think I had the gussets. If I didn't, everything would be bent to shit.
And my shocks took more than 4 weeks to build from King. Hell my bypasses took a month longer than my coilovers, and they were built wrong. My point is, have you measured extended/collapsed length?

Get rid of the Engage top plates. Build your own, get the burg ones, or hack everything out and do a custom hoop. The Engage ones are stupid long.

Valid point you have there. I haven't measured. Just trusted what they said  I know I need to ditch the engage ones but the coil bucket is so bent I doubt I can put in a new non bent top plate, because nothing would line up.

tc ftw is right!!!! they claim 12" on my kit but i had 13 when first installed. I found that i was restricted by the cv hitting the inside of cup(or whatever its called) so i ground it down some. i got another 1-2 out of just doing that and now im in the same boat as you with my shocks being the limiting factor. ill have to pull out the tape next time im in there but i should be around 14-14 1/2" when all is said and done. so much better finding some extra travel vs. most company's who use them funny tape measures. Good work old man wish i was going to moab with ya :(
