This is interesting, I'd expect a bigger difference between highway and city. Traffic in town must be pretty light for you. :D I get 21 mpg highway if I keep it under 2000 rpm, but 16 mpg city.

11.5 x 35 / 31 = 13 mpg when corrected for odometer error. The Dick Cepek tires you are running are VERY heavy, 71 lb each. Stock tires are 37 lb each. The 20" wheels are probably 10 lb heavier than OEM. That's ~44 lb more rotating mass per corner.

You are driving with the shifter in "D" and not "4", right? The way the shift gate is designed, it's a surprisingly common for new Taco owners to put the shifter in "4" unintentionally - I did it on my test drive at the dealer. Driving in "4" around town is more comfortable (you get engine braking), but you lose about 1 mpg.

Very little city driving for me.....and yes, not much traffic. The truck really dosen't like anything over 55/60mph.....at 70+mph it wants to stop at every gas station. Add some hills on the Interstate & it gets real bad.

But for me, if I want good gas mileage, I drive my Scion. ;) So I don't worry about it too much.
