I had similar vibes as what you describe, and they seem to have mostly gone away after I lined up my U-joints today. I replaced my center bearing and forgot to index the flange that goes over the spline shaft which got me in this mess. Lining up the front and rear U-joints, or atleast having them at 90 degrees to each other seems to have balanced it. I guessed and put the weights welded on the the driveshafts as close to ~180 degrees out from one another with the u-joints still aligned. Just sharing what worked for me, not guaranteed.

Doesnt this drive line use master splines so you cant mess up the driveshaft phase ?

What does driveline vibes feel like compared to front end vibes?

Thanks TBeers, I haven't tackled it yet and have just been living with the vibes. The original shop doesn't seem to want to do anything about. Either I'll do it myself or hit another shop. I'll report back once I try something.

    Cheers and again thanks folks.

No, sadly it doesn't, at least not on my '97. I thought there would be a master spline too, or at least tick marks. All I found was a "1" stamped on the flange, but no marking on the shaft. I tried lining the 1 up with the stake cut on the shaft, but it didn't seem to help.

I have a 3rd gen 4runner. I replaced the u-joint and made the mistake of taking it apart without marking it and throwing it back together. Hum, rumble , and grrrr. Called a tow truck to drop me back home. Can this be fixed by aligning the yokes next time?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
