Hi i have this rattleing sound from the right side of the motor the side with the altanator on it. First i thought it was the timming idler pullys which i change because they where bad but that was'nt the problem. I can start the truck up and idle and it wont do it but when i drive it a about 30 secs after take off then it starts up rattleing.

So i pulled all the belts off and rule that out as a problem.
I just did a transmission swap so thats not the problem eather
Surely if it was in the motor which i dont see how it would do it all the time and not only while driveing. or would it?

any one have any ideas that would help alot. I have'nt changed the water pump but surely if a bad water pump water would be shotting out.

    Are the exhaust shrouds loose?

Just checked no lose shroud. it sounds like a bearing rattling but I'm clueless to what bearing could be rattling.

I would check the water pump. A bad bearing won't necessarily cause water to shoot out. Remove the belt so you can turn it by hand. Turn it slow. It should feel smooth (I am sure you know this). If you feel tight spots then the bearing is shot.

If the bearing was out in the water pump then wouldn't it make the sound all the time even at idle since its turning.

well the water pump looks fine i spin it it spins smothly no noise or rubbing so it must be something inside the motor  maybe oil pump or some stupid bearings on the inside of the motor. looks like i will just have to sale it and take my loss's on it :(

its odd though cause it dose'nt do it till i start driveing it it dose'nt do it at idel so u would'nt think it was something in the motor but who knows.

    any ideas?

Does it sound like top end or bottom end? If you have a stethoscope, it would help to indentify exactly where this noise is coming from.

If you are sure it is internal and in the top end, you can take the valve covers off and inspect. It's a good starting spot. You have eliminated all the external possibilities like the pulleys and such?

Thats good to hear. I really am doubting it is the motor.
