Calling all Virginians (Tidewater area)

No biggie. It is what worked for me. I tried with a hammer. really I did. Multiple hammers of all makes and weights. I was getting no where. Walked to the store to get a pickle fork, DONE>

Again, it worked for me. I would have got the press, but thay didn't have it. \\\

Strikes~Blows, whatever. Same thing in my book.

I tore both of my "boots" with the fork. More intentionally, I wanted to see how the grease was holding up. I could have easily moved it out of the way. I was not going to use the part again.

Other people have got use out of it too, so $10 well invested, for ME.

I was just splitting hairs. As long as you got the job done safely. for dividing the cost of the tool across multiple jobs. I try to buy tools that will see multiple uses.

I have never had a problem using the "hammer only" method. Considering that I'm not always separating a ball joint to replace it, saves me money in boots.

Loosening the retainer nut one turn, then hitting the knuckle, on the flat spot, where the taper meets the spindle, is how I do it. It takes a few firm strikes with a 2lb hammer.

 

Anyone need a full set of fabricated underbody skids? Decided that I don't need to be carrying all of that weight. I'll bring them to Techoma's tomorrow.

 

Damn, wish I was up there. But not sure they'd work with my current IFS skid.

 

Don't need a full set but I'm in the market for a transfer case skid if you will separate. I won't be at the meet tomorrow though. Are they branded or home-made?

Gentlemen... and others ... I hate to do this but I must cancel. I just got home from the docs. As some of you know I have a bit of a... lets say respiratory history. As it turn out I currently have a severe case of bronchitis. I was hoping it would go away... but after a couple stumbles last night... I went to the doc today. For most people... Bronchitis SUCKS... for me... it's almost crippling. My Pulse Ox at resting is 94. I have to chill the next couple days or live with headaches and coughing spasms that make me so dizzy I have to sit and or hold onto something.
