After much deliberation and research (which is half the fun afterall) I have decided on the components I want to use for a mild lift. Got a couple questions before I start ordering parts though. First off parts list

    King coilovers and shocks
    Icon billet uca's
    Icon progressive leaf pack

    1) will these parts work together?
    2) if I get the shocks and uca's at a different time will that be a problem if I don't crank the co's past 2.5 in?
    3) compared to trd sport saggy leafs and deaver top of the line, where do the icons fall?
    4) if I were to do mods one at a time, what order would be best?
    5) last but not least, how do kings and icon shocks compare when the speed offroad increases? I know the kings are progressive but how "rough" will they be compared to icons when icons get smoother?

If anyone has this setup I would lobe to hear a review before jumping in!

holy cow! you actually did research! praise to you man!

I would imagine that icon would tell you what diameter coils the ucas would clear. as long as you don't buy anything bigger I cant think of any other parts that would crash. If I had the money for coilovers I would readily spend it on king rather than icon. they have been around a while. and if they put a progressive rate coil on and recommend it, I would trust them. I would prefer a harsh spring near bottom rather than slamming bump-stops.

I have also considered coilovers before ucas without preload to get a safe height before buying the arms. if your coilover supplier says they can adjust that low, do it! although again, there may be interference with the factory arms and the larger diameter coils, a pro would have to answer that question.

im not familiar with the icon leaf pack but would guess that its made by alcan or deaver. its probably fine, but if it costs the same as an alcan or deaver pack, I would sooner buy it directly from them. ome is another one, and I think they make their own. I bought coils from them and the box claims they are made in austrailia sooo . . . .

unfortunately, I have zero of the parts you are contemplating, just going off of what I've read. hope it helps some . .

I can't offer anything in the way of pro advice, but from personal experience: I lifted the front of my truck 2" with bilstein 5100s, and was never able to get the wheels properly realigned until i finally threw down for ucas. I drove around like \-o-/ everywhere, way out of camber. So I imagine the icon coilovers would put you in much the same position.

Now lifting the front without doing anything to the back is going to make your truck ride super nose-high, especially if you still have the shell on the back.

So I think to get the look you're going for, you would really have to do everything at once or soon together. You can drive with anyone of those components on by itself, but the truck will not look right. Even once you lift the truck, it might look a little goofy being so tall and narrow. You'll probably want to get larger tires and wheels with less backspacing or wheel spacers so the stance widens. Good luck though, you'll love it once everything comes together!

If you are in the Socal area hit up All Terrain Fab in Yucca Valley. They can set you up with a nice +1.5" kit for the front that doesn't break the bank. If you are going to fork over $1200 for just uppers I would wait and get the shorter arm long travel kit.

Not quite sure what the 12 vs 14 in spring does, can you go more in depth about that please? Is that for the LT setup?

Thanks for the advice! I haven't been able to find much info on the icon Progressive Leaf pack but it's only 200 bucks. Way cheaper than a deaver but prob won't perform as well either, just want some input on if they are any good.

Yea deaver is not a great spring. If you want you should check out OMD springs on here. Great price and guy to work with. 12" spring I had to run instead of the 14" that comes on the kings because of the mounting location on the control arm I can run a lot less preload then. then 14" spring is compressed just to get it on the coilover then the collar is put on.

Damn lucky you! Just got Terra Grapplers and they are okay but I wish I would have gone more aggro... Can't complain about the price though, $680 installed with a free alignment check!

Deavers are great for what they are and are the best option for a soft unladen ride quality. They are not for heavy duty use. they are not for towing. They are SUPPOSED to be as soft as shown in the vid. Those morons think heavy duty = quality. So for the softest rear you should get the stiffest spring? Fucking ridiculous... the 1.5" lift spring is for unladen offroad use.

I have the Icon 3 leaf with TSB rear. It is too stiff unladen. Wish I had the Deaver and will upgrade to Deaver eventually. Deaver is THE leader in the leaf spring industry. IMO the Icon is not worth it. Retaining the factory spring as a base leads to tires hitting the front of the wheel well in a negative arch situation when paired with factory bumps. Had to do axle relocate and ubolt flip to cure. If you go cheap you end up buying extra stuff anyway. If you are determined buy Wheelers version. Its a little less stiff, less expensive. One is built by Alcan and one by Deaver thats only difference.

That vid of the guy jumping in the spring is EXACTLY what I want in my spring. Soft with 1.5" of lift. I will get something similar with 1 extra leaf for a bed box and tools

Yeah I wouldn't imagine Deavers were meant to be a trampoline. Well tuned shocks will feel good with a soft spring as long as theres enough preload. Thanks for the info on the aal, I couldnt really figure out what the leaf pack was, and my leafs are pretty gone already. I just dont want to jack the rear too high with an ome spring or hd because I only carry a load maybe 20% of the time (other than the shell and a mountain bike)... unladen ride quality is what I want!

On the other hand, being inspired by that vid I think I'll go smack my carbon framed mountain bike on a rock and see if its as stiff as they say it is

I have a buddy who runs the J66 pack on his truck. The few times he has put his dirtbike in the back and the extra gas it has sagged the springs down to stock height after about a year.
