Here where I live most houses have well water and depending on how hard the water is it will eventually overtime will eat through the pipes. When I did plumbing a while back. If the house had well water we used L copper because it is thicker and more resistant to rotting. If the house had city water we use the M copper which is thinner grade.

Thanks, yeah its just in a shitty spot. Had to cut a hole in my kitchen ceiling, so have to do some drywall work after this is fixed. Good times.

 

That's right. The other pics where the copper has green spots are future leaks. Cut it all out. You can jerry rig the leak to buy you some time. But cut it all out.

 

FAT. Gap between my flooring and fireplace. Going to fill it in with gray concrete crack caulking.

 

Usually m copper is used on drains,thinner is cheaper. L is still used on water.

 

Interesting. I have a cabin with well water. Me and dad built it but a pro plumber plumbed it for us. Wonder what he used.

Thank you all for the help, gonna cut all I can and replace. We plan on selling the house so want to fix it right. Don't want to leave a new owner with shitty fix.

x2. I've fixed more half-assed stuff in my house, and we are getting ready to sell. I think it is man code to leave it better for the next guy.

 

I was wondering why they would just leave it like that. Although, down the street part of the road was washed out, and all they did was put 3 cones up.

 

There was a small peice of wood between the joist, and the pipe as like a spacer. It was rotted, but the joist is fine. A little wet, but still solid. Think this has been leaking for a while, and just recently showed itself.

Eating lunch and got everything I need to fix, hopefully won't take me to long.

 

Hopefully you won't be moving into a dry county....
