so i'm 24 years old, and not into the whole civic w/big muffler thing at all...

but i've always had a thing for CRX's...

i'm doing a lot of driving w/the truck and gas is becoming a bit of an issue, especially if it goes up again, so i'm thinking of picking up a beater for like $3,000. either a honda or toyota car that's good on gas..

what do you guys think about stock CRX's? (not modified at all)

they aren't that safe, but are good on gas, but they stopped making them in 91.. so the remaining cars are usually destroyed.. but there are some decent ones out there...

it's that or a corolla or tercel or something.. lol

at that price range, you can get a del sol, civic, miata (get the 1.8), a toyota paseo, corolla, sentra, 200sx, 240sx. all depends. if you want to modify later, the crx or del sol is best. ive had a boner for em for years, but with no garage and living in socal, it would be a real bad investment for me. thing would get stolen in a week:mad: id get another si i miss mine :(

You gotta sit down and compare the overall costs.

The amount of money you put towards another vehicle just to save gas, might not be saving you much money at all.

You'll have to compare how much money you'll SAVE in gas versus the overall cost of the extra insurance & upkeep of an additional vehicle. Is it really worth it?

I thought about doing the same thing but when i sat down and compared the numbers cost of car, insurance, up keep. I decided to stick with just the truck and paying at the pump. I guess if you were driving a 100 miles round trip or something to work then it might make a difference...

    here's a question for you guys/girls..

how many miles do you drive a week?

i am going to check mine this week and see where i'm at..

    :stayontopic:

magicbean, those were the majority i was looking at.. i may be leaning towards a corolla.. (newer, safer, cheaper, more reliable) i'll look like a grandpa.. but oh well..

I worked the numbers when gas was over $4. For me to save money by driving a second car when I don't need the truck, with the extra insurance, taxes, registration, and maintenence costs gas would have to hit close to $13 a gallon.

Then again I have the 2.7L engine and get 25-28 mpg.

It would probably work out to a much lower price for you with the 4.0 and likely driving more miles than I do but the costs of second car can buy a lot of gas.
