I just bought a boat and will pick it up next Saturday. The trailer is having surge brakes installed and the salesman stated it will use a 5pin flat connector. When I got back from Florida, I looked into my glove box and noticed that I only have the 7-pin to 4-pin adapter #PT791-89040. Do they make a 5-pin model that will fit. Truck is a 2009 Tacoma TRD Offroad 2wwd. Thanks, Tim

Can the boat dealer not sell you a 7 to 5 pin adapter? You can find one at a bunch of stores, even Home Depot.

Didn't realize that it was a 7 to 4 pin adapter until I got back to Louisiana. I have read that some connectors do not work/fit the Toyota. I do see one #51-30703 and #85212 from Auto Zone but not sure these will fit. Just trying to eliminate a problem before I go back and pick this boat up in Florida and head back home. :) Tim

I was thinking you could ask them to have one when you pick the boat up. I have not heard about adapters not working on a Tacoma. I have bought 2 from different stores and not had a problem. But if you go to a place like Auto Zone or whatever, ask if you can make sure it fits before you drive home with it.

That is a good idea. I wonder if the can just wire straight to a 7 pin and be done with it? Tim

You could put a 7 pin connector on the boat. Just have a couple empty pins but it would work.

Either way. I personally would go with 2000GT's suggestion, wire a 7 pin to the boat. That way you can have the 7 pin on your truck if you ever need it.
