    I laid hands on a Springfield M1A this weekend and almost bought it. I just need to get a couple other things done first; but I will have an M1A.

    That one was my issued rifle at my first unit. We did two deployments together; one to Iraq in late 03 - early 04 and one to Bahrain that sent us to Saudi (where this pic was taken) and Africa.

    I'll build one like that one. That was a great rifle and sold me on the power of a .30 cal bullet.

    Have you considered the Weatherby Vanguard? They are relatively cheap and mine is 3-holes touching all day long at 100yds. .30-06 with Nikon Buckmasters scope and Wenig custom sportster laminated glass-bedded stock.

    I sold my Remington 700 that I put into a HS Precision fiberglass stock with a full-length aluminum bedding block and it was a 7mm-08 that shot a 1/2" group at 100.
