I apologize for the pictures being out of order.

So I was in Washington D.C. with some people from my school for the Virginia STate FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Conference. We had time to kill before the awards cermoney so we walked outside.

We heard a noise and saw a Ferrari and a Jaguar pull up. It was a 1985 Testarossa and an E-Type jag. I flipped shit. The nicest car I've ever seen in person was an FRS, so this was huge. We went over and talked to the owner of the Ferrari. He turned out to be none other than Randy Moss, the treasurer for the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the Ferrari Club of America. Nicest guy I've ever met.
We talked cars and we could tell he was surprised by how much my friend and I knew. He then looked at me and said "Want to sit in it?" I was stunned. I didn't even know what to do. I managed to get out a "Yes!" and he lead me over. Opened the door and let me step in.

It was phenomenal. Coolest thing ever. It was tiny on the inside and I found out that I'm too tall to ever drive one. It was like nothing I've ever seen.

I got out and we talked some more, then he said that they were just there to have lunch with the rest of the club and that they weren't allowed past the gate yet. As soon as the gate opened, they went in.
We went back inside to meet one of the dudes from our school who was testing for his competition. We went back outside and more cars were showing up. We watched as the cars filed in. There's so much to say about that day that I could write a book.

I waited the whole time for an F40. It finally came and I was speechless. I can't even describe the elation I felt seeing and hearing it. Everything I had EVER dreamed of it was NOTHING in comparison to the sound of it.

I heard a 458 pull out and completely gun it. I've been around air planes and been behind a top fuel dragster when it was running. Nothing compared to this. It was amazing and no video I've ever listened to even came close the the noise. There is nothing like it.

A guy with a 456 revved his and made the alarms on the cars around him go off.

Then a 250 GTO rolled in. Now, anyone knowing anything about exotics knows that a 250 GTO is the holy grail. They sell for well over 30 Million. Only 39 were ever made. We didn't believe. We studied it hard and still couldn't think of anything else it could be.

Later we saw Randy again and he came over to us. We asked him and he revealed that the 250 was a replica built on a 330 chassis. Still cool none-the-less.

Later we went back over the main section and looked at Randy's TestaRossa again. We were approached by the Chairman of the club. We talked to him for a while. He told us about their trip to Italy and their tour of the Ferrari factory. He told us we could join the club even if we didn't have Ferraris. (We don't)
I think he assumed we were... wealthy because we were both dress fairly formal because of the FBLA stuff. He asked "Have you guys ever been to Italy?" like it wasn't a big deal.

He told us that one of the guys there that owned the Maroon 458 Spyder behind the 250 and F40 actually owned THREE FERRARI FORMULA ONE CARS.

He said the guy who owned the F40 used to own the Ferrari dealership in Washington.

We also saw a Viper and a Zr1 playing in the street, an elise crossing the intersection, and we spotted that beautiful blue Z28 about a block down.

Overall, that was the best day of my life. Memories I'll never forget. I've only said 1% of the things that happened that day. Please feel free to ask stuff. I want to share.

What an experience. Like you said, hearing those engines in real life is just 1000x better than on video. My office is in Lakewood Ranch in Sarasota - there are all kinds of fancy cars here in the Country Club that I see and hear every day.
Funny how the people respected you because you were dressed with a tie; I bet if you had shorts and t-shirt he would not have let you sit in his car.:D

I don't think there are any here in VA either...

Exactly. Randy would have, though. He was super nice.

Holy shit, that guy was an ass. You can definitely feel an air about them when they talk, but a lot of them were super nice. Mr. Moss was super nice, it really surprised me.

The chairman guy was nice, but completely stopped talking to us when someone he knew came up, then we waited around to shake his hand (We didn't want to walk of on him), and he ended up walking off on US.

Yeah, that's no question the one to go for. Take that over the Viper if you can!

I know it is! I guess it all depends on WHAT you want to do. Both will turn heads, both will be nasty on a track.

Guess it comes down to which you like more and whether you want the refined Italian car with racing heritage and loads of tech or the American muscle that's just built to be batshit crazy.

Yes he was. The ending just makes me my day though! Those cars are sweet and its awesome you got to see them up close. My dream is to one day get to ride in a LFA, but it will probably never happen.

The Ferrari doesn't do much for me compared to that z28. Late 60s American muscle all the way.

Northern VA has emissions testing every 2 years. Once you go south toward Fredericksburg all that crap goes away.
