Wanting to re-gear. Suggestions?

Hey guy. I've got a 95 2.7L tacoma. I have went up to 32x11.50s and can tell a difference in the gas and power. Im not to worried about the gas but i would like to get the power back. My door code is B03A, which means i have 4.10 gears if i'm not mistaking. So with the 4cyl and 32s, what gear ratio should i go to if I decide to re-gear and about how much would it cost? Thanks

 

I'm running the same size tire but my truck came with 4.56 gears. I think 32's and 4.56 are a good match. On the highway at 65 I'm running about 2350 rpm. Also gas mileage wise my last tank of almost all city driving was 18.3 mpg.

 

Yea my gas isn't too bad in city, 17-18 mpg. I can tell the power I have lost from when i bought the truck with 235s then went to 31s and now on 32s. You still have a lot of power? Not having to push the gas too hard?

 

Auto? 4.56's.
5 Speed? 4.30's.

Only problem is finding a factory set of 4.30's will be like finding 9mm ammo these days.

 

i have an '04 automatic v6 with 285s (~33") tires and regeared to 4.88s. love it. i think 4.56s would be fine for 32s unless you plan on running 33s in the future...

 

if you plan on going to 33's in the future just get 4.88s. 4.56's would probably be ideal right now. i wouldnt wast time on 4.30's unless you found some dirt cheap it's just not big enough of a difference even to waste time pulling your diffs out. if you get 4.56s and then go to 33's someday the 4.56s would treat you decent still.

Autos came wi 4.56 cause they are power hogs and have different gearing.

Your a manual. So 4.30s would be best.

 

Gear sets (ring and pinion) will run you about 200$ each. Master install kits (bearings and such) are another 200-220$ each. So parts will be ~850$. If you are in the diff, it may be smart to install a locker while doing this. Prices vary with type, from 250-1000$

Labor costs to install will vary depending on who does it. Most places get 750-1000$ for complete installation, front and rear + parts.

I went with 4:56 nitro gears and i'm running 305/70/16. Love the gears
