I'm looking for some advice. I just put on a set of 285 70 17s this weekend and I am having some rubbing issues. The driver side is the only one that rubs. I did a cmc on both sides prior to getting the tires and all was good at the shop but after I got home I think the suspension settled and I am having rubbing issues on the driver side while I have about a 1.5" clearance on the passenger. I did some trimming of the fender and pounded down the "pinch weld" but I am still hitting the cab mount. I chopped the driver side more than the passenger and it still hits. I also measured hub to fender on both sides and I am level. I have Icons with almost 1.75" of thread showing on the driver side but it appears that the wheel sits further back in the well than the passenger. Could a caster alignment adjustment be the culprit? I will try and post some pics tomorrow. Oh also I am running duratracs on stealth six's, 17x8.5 4.3 BS and 10mm offset.

    Any ideas welcome!

Caster over 3 degrees. Had same problem with 2.4 degree caster causing contact after cab mount chop. Caster increase fixed it.

Thanks for the post. I was hoping this could be an issue. My caster was 2.X driver side but it has been a while since last alignment. I am going in to get it aligned tomorrow and I will have them set it between 3 and 4 degrees. I am happy someone else had a similar issue (not that I'm happy you had to deal with this) because I was about out of Ideas.

X2. More caster moves the lower balljoint forward, improving clearance with the cab mount.

You still have a stock bumper? May have to trim more in the front as a result.

Ya I still have the stock bumper, I am not as concerned with trimming the front. Plastic trimming is much easier for me than trying to cut more off my cab mount (i went pretty aggressive with it to begin with) plus I had to do a bunch of fender trimming in the back already do to the wheel sitting so far back

Im running 255/85/16 and when off roading under compression my rear driver sid tire rubs the front of the wheeel well. It is shredding the fender well. A few rub marks on passenger side but not nearly as frequent. Icon progressive aal. Any suggestions?

You running stock ucas? I figure your lifted cause your running a 285 tire.aftermarket ucas have built in positive caster to help out with your alignment and get the vehicles frontend back to stock specs.
I noticed a great difference when I went with total chaos ucas.

    Thanks,

    Brett

No I have a set of Built Right UCAs. Correct me if I am wrong here but the caster added by adding aftermarket UCAs is added by moving the upper ball joint back, toward the rear of the truck. My problem is I need to move the lower ball joint forward thus moving the spindle and tire more to the front of the truck.

My 255/85/16s are fine with my Dakars.
I think there might be a rear axle relocate plate to corect this. :notsure:

You are correct. Maybe a little less up top (if it can be adjusted) and have them get as much as they can out of the bottom. I'm running stock UCAs and not quite in spec but it drives great.

A bit surprising. 33" tire with 3" lift is a pretty common setup.

Thinking out loud: what are your bed-to-cab measurements on the driver's and passenger side? In case the bed is mounted slightly crooked on the frame (relatively easy to correct).

Are your wheels still stock TRD OR wheels as shown in your build thread?

I will have to check the bed alignment. Stock wheels with 255/85/16 TOYO OPEN COUNTRY MT's.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
Im running a similar setup. Scs stealth 6 wheels with 285/70 duratracs, light racing UCAs set to +2* caster, about 2.5" of lift. I did the CMC and i am pretty close to rubbing when compressed. I dont think i have rubbed the modified cab mount yet but my tire only clears by about 1/8" at full lock with a good amount of compression. My caster numbers are 2.7 and 2.5 i believe

Ok took it in for an alignment today. At first they told me they didn't think they could get it to 3 degrees but quickly came back to me after they looked at it. They adjusted it until the wheel was sitting as centered as possible then I had them adjust camber from there. It ended up being 4.0 degrees of caster driver and and 4.1 passenger. I figured I could take a look at it compressed and go back later to reduce caster (i have a lifetime alignment). The new camber numbers are.6 degrees both sides but after I see if I have leftover clearance I am hoping that will get better.
