I don't really get it, maybe I'm missing something?

Not sure what the epic/so much want part of the video is? Is it that it is super narrow and dangerous? Really steep? Or what?

Probably me just being stupid. I do like the video a lot, and I would love to drive that road sometime, just not fast haha.

Ahh. From your first background explanation, it read like you had driven it before several times. A little confusingly worded, probably written in your vast excitement :)

I've driven all kinds of stuff in the 5 years I've been driving, just part of living in Wyoming/the Wild West, so that road doesn't seem super special to me personally because I've driven similar stuff (both on and off road) (though that road has a serious lack of guardrails, part of the thrill), and tons of things, so it doesn't seem super special. But if I had to choose between a long grade and that, I would choose that in a heartbeat. :D

Hope you get to explore it soon! I've driven Jettas quite a bit, they are zippy and tight! (my mother has a 2003 Jetta Wagon, fun, but small for me lol)

MTgirl mentioned the Beartooth Highway/St Joeseph Scenic highway, and MAN, that is an epic drive. You go up and drop hundreds of feet and the views are stunning. I drove it about two weeks back, gorgeous country, would do it again, and not that hard of a highway to drive, in terms of managing your brakes and such. The Bighorns, especially 14-A on the western side, is also another similar drive (and super easy to burn your brakes)... The road up to Five Springs also on the western side of the Bighorns off of 14-A is similar too, though MUCH shorter (Monte's been there).

Does the epicness of this road indicate that ID has few epic drives and roads hanging off the edge of mountains? Oh wait, it's in the PNW. haha, sorry, couldn't resist. :D

Ben thinks he's the host of top gear and he has to find the most awesome driving roads...looks like his choice of sports car for that one will be a Jetta, known the world over for its tight handling suspension and instant power delivery.

Saw that on your fb. Read his article and i know exactly what you mean. Looks like an epic piece of road. Reminds me a lot of some of the roads we have up here in BC. Lots of winedy switch back roads on edges of cliffs.

I cant wait to get my Jetta done so i can drop the windows and sunroof too. Nice thing about that car is its pretty quick at 175hp :D

Yup :D VR6 12v model comes with 175. VR6 24v comes with 200hp! They have really tough bottom ends so you can crank out even more power with some money

doesn't look much different than a lot of the roads around here :notsure:
But I understand your desire to drive it - I take a lot of the backroads around here just for a change of scenery and to get away from the big trucks and stuff

If you want curves and great views I say again that you need to drive the Beartooth...I'll post some pics later when I get home and you'll see why.

 you've been on both, you know what I'm talking about.

If you really want a curvy road Ben, drive the Alcan. Theres a stretch that that's about 6 or 7 hours to drive and it nothing but turns, gentle turns but still you're going left, right, left...without a break. My arms and neck were killing me the next day (of course I was driving it in my Subie and having a little "fun") The stretch starts around Fort Nelson, through Muncho and Liard and into Whitehorse

Really?! My wife drives a base model 2008 Mazda3i. Power nothing, no factory cruise control (I added it), the baby 2.0L economy motor (gets in the low 30's average mpg between city and hwy driving) and I have been trying to get her to race me. I am pretty positive that her car could beat my Tacoma. Not even kidding! The car is a blast to drive too. I couldn't imagine getting my hands on a Mazda3 Speed with the S/C 2.3L motor!

Her 2.0 is rated at 148 HP.
After driving my wife's car I would believe it! It's almost as much fun to drive as my Tacoma. I wish my auto tranny was setup like hers too. It literally behaves like a manual without a clutch if you want it to, or you can just put it in D and it behaves like a normal auto. Not sure why I would like that, mostly just because with that setup it tells you what gear the tranny is actually in on the dash (not just what gear you selected) and it would be handy for dynos if I ever get that far anyway.
