I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
I've posted this in other TSB threads but it's worth repeating. REPORT THIS TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE FEDERAL TRADE COMISSION AS FALSE ADVERTISING. They will investigate and they will notify Toyota that they are being investigated. Toyota clearly advertises the Tacoma with an over 1,200 lbs payload capacity. Period. It can't handle that. I was given the runaround too. I brought my truck in twice. Never got any results excpet people flat out telling me lies. That is until I filed complaints. Screw part numbers, forums, bags of sand, print outs, and any of that other crap. Tell Toyota to stick their case number up their ass, you're happy with your case number from the FTC and BBB. The best part is it's free to file complaints with both of them.

So Im hearing that the 09's still have 3 leafs, but have not technically been written into the TSB? So people are hit or miss with getting dealers to do replacments on the 09's? Am I understanding this correctly? I gather that others have had problems for other reasons, but I am just wondering what the status is for the 2009's.

I pick up my 2009 4x4 double cab, long bed SR5 (w/Supercharger!) next week.

some of the 09's only have 3 leaf pack, if you have 4 your good to go. i have the 3 leaf pack so technicaly i quallify. but if you have the 3 pack then ask for it to be done as a term of agreement on the truck.
    -hope this helps

It's semantics- but technically you do NOT qualify.

The TSB specifies 2005-2008 trucks with certain part number springs. You SHOULD EXPECT to have the TSB updated to include your truck in the near future- as your 3 leaf springs have the same part numbers as our 3 leaf trucks.

You have a good basis for asking to get the TSB done- but if they deny you cause "Your truck doesn't qualify" then you can't really get TOO angry. Try it once...Try another dealer...Then call corporate.

You should let an adult handle it.

Dealing with customer service representatives is great experience. A skill that will be valuable for the rest of your life and if mastered could save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

X2! (except I have an 08) Had the work done at Jim Barkley Toyota, Asheville NC and I didnt even purchase it from them.

Unless you inherited alot of cash to buy this truck, let the ADULT who is helping you finance it take care of this problem.
Sorry they aren't going to be that helpful to a 15 y.o. who brings them a truck thats covered in mud.
Future refernce: warranty work is always smoother in a vehicle that is clean.

Glad they are being more helpful. But seriously a stealership WILL USE mud and mods, and anything else they can think of to avoid them any cost of labor/parts. OF COURSE THEY WILL TELL you " its ok just bring it in, we dont mind if it dirty. Then they are going to say that it is abnoramlly muddy, and therfore abused.Example: By a 4x4 and stick it in a mud pit, then take it in for warranty work, proably not going to cut it. By a new sports car and tear the clutch or rear out of it on the track, take it in for warranty work they say sure bring it in, but when they find all the rubber underneath, thats when they say whoa nelly " Sir we need to discuss your vehicle with you"
