Pretty sure that is incorrect. The law that outlines rank structure puts cadet rank between senior enlist and warrant officers.
AUTHORITY and proper interactions is a different thing. They have no authority to command and are only given situational authority during certain training periods, as direct but the unit commander.

Any cadet that has a clue won't try to pull rank on even the newest boot at the unit, but that doesn't mean they have no rank.

Edit: Law mighta been too far...but there is service policy that covers it.

    this and that...
i always thought rotc cadets, until they graduate, get comissioned and pinned as a butter bar (2lt), they are just that; a cadet. as far rank structure goes for pay purposes, i think they fall under e-5 (sgt) drill pay. im not too sure, thats just what i always thought. as for me, i did 8 years, got out as an e-5. my mos was 51b (carpentry/ masonry) and one tour to theater (iraq). my dad did 24 years got out as an e-8 (1sg) in the army and my uncle did the same but got out as an e-9(cmsgt) in the air force.

E-6, just extended another year. Cadets fall under the pay grade of E-6 I do believe. Aside from that the individual units usually set the parameters of their operation. Some make you treat them as a commisioned officer and others let you use and abuse them, from my experience.

I am a E-2 currently but when i get back from basic this summer and SMP i'll be an E-5

i'll save my vote for E-5 when it has been awarded as such.

    Lol, fair enough.

Some of the funniest shit I have ever seen is the MCoE band, for the graduations here at Benning. One of them, this SPC, looks like a cube, thats the best way I can describe him. I guess he plays a mean trumpet or something, who knows.

Removed the dealer tag holder…that’s it.
I know if you are going to WOCS or OCS or SF after basic you will be automatically promoted to E5, for pay purposes only.

And why is there still no WO1 selection?! Lol
