Here you go OP , hope this helps

    2x6 , fit sucks

    Shaped 2x8 , fits good

Here are the dimensions for that

If you want the top to be flush with the bedside ledge and top of wheel wells it will sit like this

And here are the dimensions for the flush mount

If you have any questions , hit me up

Duh ... I don't know why it never occurred to me that 2 2x4's would be the right width. I still don't understand why they made that notch 1" deep rather than 1.5". I'm also thinking removing .5" of thickness from the bottoms of the ends of the 2x4's like OZ-T said would be a good idea so that the plywood sits on the ledge and the 2x4's. With the 2x4's and the edge support, I wonder if I could get away with 1/2" plywood ... probably best to go with 3/4".

Damn, you're a woodworking master. Thanks a lot. I don't know how much of that I can replicate with my crappy table saw, but it gives me something to shoot for.

    Yes.

I just used 2 - 2x6's and cut plywood to fit the space and they sit on top of the 2x6's. They are not cut flush with the ledge but will support anything you put on them. I've had close to 1,000 lbs on my platform (towards the front so notches were supported for the first few inches by the wheel well) and it did perfectly fine. If you're worried about sag, use 3/4" plywood. You do not need the ledge to support a simple sleeping platform and do not need a center support either. You guys are over thinking it.

I used 2x8's cut milled to fit. I made mine square, not fancy tapered edge like Oz. I also used a thickness planner to get the right thickness and then 1/4" round on all edges. Works great!
