Went to the dealer today for the 09 Radio problem, they told me to go on Wednesday they will take out the radio and send it I don't know where to be checked. So I will be left without a Radio till who knows when, this absolutely sucks. Does Toyota has release the TSB for this issue yet?

Also just for the heads up to everyone, I know that a lot of people prefer to buy the original Toyota fog lights than the ebay ones, if you want the original ones buy them online or be careful because the dealer I went to today has the SAME fog lights that are on ebay, so if you buy them at the dealer be careful that they are actually not selling you the same thing that are on ebay, altough I have the ebay ones and have not had any issues whatsoever.

Yeah, I just hope it gets fixed, the radio does the flickering but not very frequently so I won't be surprised if they "check" the radio and don't find anything then tell me that they wont replace it. I know that toyota relased the tsb for the jbl system, Im surpised to see how many people have reported this problem with their 09s and there still isn't a TSB yet for this.

I had the same issues with my radio not even a week after I got the truck.
I took it to the dealer and showed the service manager what was happening(at that time the volume would work from the steering wheel but not from the radio itself)
He ordered me a new one but it's about a month out.
It would shut off and on on it's own,not change stations,no volume control and a few other weird things.

Ok, update, The Monkey that worked in my truck left a nice scratch below the A/C Controls apparently they had to remove the radio to write down the serial number, so they used a foot and a half metal bar to remove the A/C controls panel, when he noticed it he decided to clean the dash with the same towel he used to clean his dirty hands while changing the motor oil, to make things worse apparently. He also optimizes his performance be making use of his feet as hands and opening the doors with them leving me a nice set of marks for me to clean up...... Jeez where do they learn these tricks.

Yup, my truck is about 2 weeks old..less than 700 miles on the odometer right now and the radio started acting up this week.

Took it to the dealer, and they said they would order a new radio for me.

Murphy's law, I got into my truck the other day and the radio is working fine now. Prolly better to have it changed.

    Where's the TSB??

No TSB for this yet, I don't know what are they waiting for, only TSB I know of is for the JBL system. Mine starting acting up close to your mileage I have 935 miles on the odometer.

When you go tell them to be careful when removing the A/C controls panel, there a two better options than prying it out from the bottom.

    1. Pry it out from the top, push the bottom of the radio bezel upward, (below the clock) exactly at the middle, it will create enough space to insert something to take out the A/C panel. If the scratch something this way it will be the radio bezel, but who cares its going to get replace anyways and will probably will be from the bottom where is not visible.

    2. 2nd option I like this one best: YouTube video

Yea, I was just watching that youtube clip, actually.
I think it's a much better way of removing the AC controls.

I'm thinking right now, it might not be a bad idea to go aftermarket at this point.
The factory head sounds terrible and I'm almost 100% sure the dealer would
scuff something up if they touched it.

I just don't really like the in-dash kits that are out there.
Maybe go In-dash NAV system just to fill up the space??
    Wish I had the cash...

The only problem I had with my 09 radio is the volume knob would cut out, and when I got to the dealer, PRESTO! It starts to work again. The steering wheel volume controls always worked. I said screw this and just bought a nav. I didn't realize I wasn't alone...

Got the Kenwood DNX5120, it's pimp! It was also much easier to install than I thought. Took about an hour or so, I'll be doing the amp and speakers when I get my Mr. Marv sub box and sub... Can't wait!!!

Complain *nicely* to the service manager and you *should* get everything cleaned and/or replaced and get some free service out of it. I got my seats professionally cleaned after the SAME monkey you had put grease all over my month old seats, and got a free oil change on top of that for my trouble.

Had the radio problem one month after I bought my truck. Took it into the dealer. They ordered me one on the spot. Left the old one in until the new one arrived. Total wait time time was only 20 days. The original order quote time was 6 weeks. When I took it in for the radio to be replaced, I told the service manger this was a brand new truck and there were no scratches, dents, dings, stains inside or out. I said I wanted it back in the same condition. He said no problem. I will put my best guy on it. Guess what? I got it back in better condition. They detailed it inside and out. Plus the installer left his plastic dash pry tool in the truck.

    Sorry we hijacked your thread...

I got it for $399 on close out, so worth it! Although not happy about only 2 channels of output and at 2 volts, but I can always upgrade later...

If thats a new truck.... I would complain. They are required to replace the scratched dash items. You just have to be firm about it. Tell them if not, you are gonna report them to coporate for damging you truck and not willing to make a mends. Goodluck.....

Lol the idiot that worked on mine used a metal bar about a foot and a half long, I just don't get how a person can be such an imbecile and find appropriate to use that tool to remove the A/C control.

I find it funny that the way things are right now in the World, people losing jobs etc etc, those who have jobs like him do such a crappy job on things when they at this moment should be working at their best trying to hold on to what they have, if he was fired for any reason whatsoever he is very easy to replace, and there are lots of people right now looking for jobs who would appreciate the opportunity he has right now.

I will man, thanks for the comment, I'll keep the thread updated, the new radios supposedly will be here in 10 days, I will complain when I go to get it replaced, or do you think it would be better if I went tomorrow or something like that?

Did you see the picture above? Do you guys think is worth complaining for something that small?
