Idaho BS thread in the PNW

The audiologists told me I would have a better quality of life if I got a hearing aide for my left ear, but I get by for the most part and I think it would be annoying to have just 1 hearing aide so I will wait until I need 2. I have to hold a phone up to my right ear because I can't understand anything through my left ear. I can hear that people are talking but I can't make it out fast enough (or at all) to catch a whole sentence. Surprises me sometimes just how little my left ear can actually hear since my right ear compensates for it so much. For those of you with good ears, just imagine wearing a good ear plug in your left ear 24/7.

I am considered 10% disabled which would entitle me to 10% disability payments but too many people already mooch off of the government so I don't plan on doing the same since I don't need it. I may use that to get the Army to pay for hearing aides for me though when I eventually need them since they are pretty pricey.

 

my old 1SG was a grunt before he went 13B with the 1st cav in DS, ended up like you, with major hearing loss in his left
talked to him about it before, he said he hated the idea of hearing aids until he actually got one

 

yea my dad has one for just his left i think.

Helps a ton. And you can't see it at all. Its an in ear one that is super small.

 

maybe next summer, depends on what I think of wheeling with strangers lol.
