I could agree with that, the event just happens to be the walking dead.

this. You could replace the all of the zombies with Elvis Impersonators with raging boners and machine guns and I would still want the episodes to play out the same.

The people that we are watching are begining to get comfortable with how predictable the dead are, and their ability to control them and live among them. They under estimate the impact that the other living folks can have and that's where the show will get/can get really interesting.

You can only kill a zombie so many ways before it starts to get really old.

If I had to try and put it into words, what Season 3 was would be like if society broke down, and all that was left were whiny bitches apparently.

Where as, in an extinction event, you wouldn't have time to get into random escalations with other groups of people.

If we consider that zero attempt was made to clear the entire prison, zero attempt made to plant and farm the prison grounds, the whole season was built up to an anticlimactic fight where in the bad guy slips away for no just reason. In order for that scenario to be "survival" perhaps they would actually need to do things other than collect ammo and get formula for the baby one time.

So, what you are saying is that is should be a 24-7 zombie fest, eh? I guess if they would have time to clear a prison, plant a garden, etc., they would also have time get into "random escalations" with other groups, right?

Since this is a survival show - after all, aren't they surviving by having to not only deal with zombies but also those random groups? If (keep in mind that this whole thing is theoretical because it couldn't happen in the first place) something like this were to happen, wouldn't random groups of people be a factor? Or will they all play nice and not try to steal/rape/kill/etc.?

I like the fact it's not all about zombies. As many have said. If shit ever hits the fan like an apocalypse I'd be more worries about other people than I would about slow walking flesh eating walkers.

so an entire season of only convenient zombie threat is normal and a more realistic situation of millions of undead roaming around is unheard of? lol I know we're talking about a drama here but it lacks common sense.

My question is, would you stay in a prison that is compromised, near a psychopath or would you, using your police officer leader, go find another prison given that they can be used as a stronghold? They have enough gas to drive around endlessly apparently so why not click down the road a couple hours?

Well, if it is more a rural location then the numbers of zombies they encountered may be about right - unless there is some massive zombie hoard roaming the hillside constantly, as we witnessed in a previous season. However, whats to say that massive hoard of zombies didn't attract many of the area zombies as it passed?

Who knows on the prison part... It would seem that the lower levels of the prison that have zombies in them would almost be some kind of safeguard against attack from that section. A prison would be very, very difficult to fortify with the small number of people that they have (this was before the new ones showed up at the end of season three) - I would venture to guess that it would near impossible for a group of 6 -10 people to effectively hold something that big against any sort of coordinated attack...

I want to see a giant hoarde. The 'science' behind the zombies is that a few make enough noise to attract more, and the group slowly grows in size because of their lemming instincts and attraction to noise.

There were a couple massive hoarde attacks in the books and it made for excitement.

It ocurred to me one point I missed if they ever talked about it. Is the walker population only made up of people who were alive when the virus broke out?

Or did people already dead and buried rise from the ground like some of the old movies show? Some look like they could have but that would make hoards everywhere you go.

Never thought of that...I think that since they are all infected, according to the guy at the CDC in ATL in that episode, it would only affect those living and not the pre-event ones.

i havent heard it either way, but i would think alive when the virus broke. they havent figured out the virus yet though, other than you turn when you die. also throws up the question of transference to the baby via blood or not. never read to the farms in the comics, so i dunno if that was discussed in there.

i dont know the embalming process and honestly dont want to... but how would the already dead come back? dont they pretty much suck out all your innards and brains and such to preserve the body before you get buried? or am i totally off base with that. like i said i have never looked into what embalming actually consists of so i truly have no clue.

    I want bigger!

In the book "Road to Woodbury" there was a hoarde that was described as "so dense you could walk on their shoulders" and " as far as you could see" I also want to see not normally dressed zombies, like a birthday clown or a slice of pizza dance guy
