Memorial Weekend, Hungry Valley SVRA/Miller Jeep trail

Im sure some will. I'm not sure yet. Ill be there before noon on Friday.

 

I have never been here. How do we get gas or do we run gas cans?

 

their is FLying J, Shell and 76 station near by. But i recommend getting gas before you go up the grade.

I recommend getting gas on lyons ave in Steven ranch.

Their is Arco, shell 76 and Valaro i believe.

 

There are stations right outside of the park, but like manwithoutaplan said you should probably fill up before hand cause they can be a little pricey. I plan on bringing some gas cans though, cause I will be taking the long road home over the mountain back to Santa Barbara. Never done it before so this sounds like a good time to try it.

 

I've got Friday off so I can get there pretty early to reserve what ever spot we want. Just have to make a decision on a camping spot.

 

I might head up there Thursday night after work to get the same spot as last Time

What time is the big trail run happening? is there cell service? I've never been there before so ill need some help getting to camp. & who do I call to get directions cause I'm sure we all won't be sitting on this thread waiting to respond here.

What about food? We doing a BBQ or just packing sammiches for three days?

 

There's some cell service in certain areas. Juan will have fires burning aroung gorman...similar to the l.a. riots so bring some meats and you can q em up.

 

Here is a map of the general area. Most people will have CBs but cell service is kinda off/on.

Bring whatever you want to eat/drink. I'll probably be bringing a camping stove and some pans, but keeping it to simple to make things easy.

 

i would like to say that i am part of fires burning everywhere to.

 

Im bringing my trailer with inside and outside stoves and a BBQ.

Bummer you can't make it Conor, on the bright side there will be less trail litter to pick up, bumper caps, random parts, whiskey bottles, etc.

Man, you guys are brave running MJT on memorial day weekend, make sure you get on the trail by 7am at the latest because you'll get stuck behind large groups of jeepers and/or UTV groups and other large groups. Get on the trail early to avoid waiting hours behind these groups on the trail and also there groups that run it backwards and it just turns into a grand clusterfu*k!
