Holy shit I went to bed before all the craziness. I was driving up the highway when I finally put the radio on. One suspect dead and the T shut down. As well as whole towns shut down stores asked not to open. Thoughts and prayers for the two officers involved and their families. The MIT cop is dead and the Transit cop is in critical

 

This is crazy, I'm supposed to work in Newton today.

I doubt it. One news report claimed they were throwing devices out the window of the suv the jacked

 

I work in Cambridge and the police shut down out job site and sent everyone home. Needless to say, I heard that, along with the radio reports about Watertown, Newton and Cambridge being shut down, I'm staying home until I hear otherwise.

 

There is no police or military presence on city hall plaza or post office square this am.

Intro, and new owner questions:

At the suggestion of Trail Squirrel (sorry, all I can think of is the dog in the move, "Up") I'm looking for some local advice on rust control for my 35k mile Taco. I have been incredibly spoiled by decades in the arid southwest, where there is zero rust, even on 50+ year old vehicles. I have a bit of rust on some areas of the undercarriage now, and would like to stop it in its tracks. Can anyone share real-world experience with any of the products and/or applicators? I am willing to do some (or all) of the application myself if the equipment isn't too expensive and I'm not creating an environmental disaster in my back yard. Fluid Film looks interesting. I have a compressor.

FWIW, I moved to NH in 2009 when I retired from the Marine Corps, first to Salem, NH, then Alton. I have a sister in Salem, NH. I'm married, with 2 daughters ages 6 and 9.

Hey mike welcome to the group I am sure others will chime in but I spray paint my under carriage while doing oil changes

 

Welcome to the group! I bought the Fluid Film undercoating kit and decided not to do it. I used the cans in small areas as sort of a test. It does work, but because it never dries, it collects road grime and brake dust so if you ever have to work on your vehicle later on, anything that touches the frame ends up black because you rub the road grime off the frame. I am now looking into Eastwood products. They look pretty promising.

There was a shootout early this morning, they killed one of the bombers and they think the other one is in a 20 block radius around the Arsenal Mall area but they're not 100% sure. Watertown and the surrounding areas are pretty much shut down.
