Yes, I drive it one the road, so it has to be right. I also wouldn't think it would make much of a difference in an offraod only truck.

Yeah, I'd think you'd be fine. Unless you're planning on high speeds offroad, which, in a Samurai...nooooooo thank you.

i think if i ever decide to get a little trail rig like a sammi or similar im gonna just rip it off the frame and build my own frame. it doesnt really take much to do it, i helped a buddy of mine a few years back do it to his. he just used rectangular tubing and mitered all the different bends so a few hours with a welder in his hands and a welder in mine and we had the rails built and then its just a matter of squaring them up when you tie them together and you have a fully boxed frame that is who knows how many times stronger than the factory.

Hah, I didn't actually find one yet that has a bent frame or anything, I was just curious. The unibody doesn't seem to hurt cherokees a whole lot though...

This is the frankenjeep that a buddy up here owns. They cut up an XJ to put the CJ body on, but the weird thing was seeing bits of unibody still there where they cut, since there's not really a frame.

....worst swap ever...that thing will fold like a bad hand in poker under any stress if they cut the body off. Thats the purpose of a unibody, to rely on body strength to maintain chassis strength.

all that work and its still running stock axles...

you can get a bad ass sammy tube kit for like 1200 bucks. I see them all the time on cl. Like a mini tube buggy.

He didn't do the work, he picked it up with trailer for 3 digits. Surprisingly, thing is stout - the picture is at Windrock. I'm sure the cage helps. He wants to put tons under it.

Yeah, that's the one I was telling Justin about in the TN thread before I quit it altogether.

I'd be driving to Nashville this weekend to see it if I were ready to buy. Also saw one in Charlotte for 1500 that has some body rust and no cage or anything, but it does have the yota axle swap.

Why would it need a swaybar?

New topic: can anyone explain to me why people stop like a car length and a half behind the car in front of them, or the line if they're first, at a stoplight? I'm legitimately puzzled.

Cautious people. I stop at least one car length from the car Infront of me at a red light, because if someone hits me in the ass, I don't want to be pushed into the car infront of me. Even if I'm pushed, it's my fault by insurance standards. As for stopping short of the line, that's usually because people don't want their front end taken off by bad drivers making a turn in the intersection. I don't do that though, I have armor, and it would be their fault. :D

or maybe its the same reason that i do it, they have spent some time in very bad areas during rush hour traffic and you never want to pin yourself in and always leave an out. that way if someone comes up to your window to "kindly" throw you the hell out of your own car so they can enjoy it, you have 2 options. 1 get the hell out of dodge cuz you have enough room to maneuver out of your stopped place or 2. part his hair down to his belly button (as my father says). that is why you will catch me doing it. i dont even realize i do it at times until folks point it out, but that is what working in Ensley for a few years will do to you.

This makes sense. I wish people wouldn't do it when the lights are close together though, traffic is going slow anyway and it holds traffic back a light.

better than what they actually do around here, they pull a car length and a half past the white line that indicates where to stop for the light and block the damn intersection, its like that line is just a suggestion for where alabama drivers should stop. pisses me off and makes me want an old early 70's ford or chevy with like 4" steel tubes mounted in front of the bumper and tied to the frame so i can just blast through the car and keep going like i hit a opossum or somethin.
