I put hellwig 1500# helper springs on mine. Ride unloaded has not changed. Load it up or hook onto the boat and the back end does not drop at all. May not be best for serious offroading but my offroading is mostly on the beach or I use the 4wd on slick boat ramps. So it's good for how I use the truck. I have a severe mistrust of dealers since on my '07 I let that dealer change the oil and they drove it around front and left it idling WITH NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. I went ballistic.

No dealer will ever again touch my truck.

Sorry, I live in B.C. and there is no Toyota plant in B.C. there is an aluminum wheel plant here that's it, there is talk of toyota building an assembly plant here with parts made in Japan.

Now it's a FACT ALL TOYOTA TACOMA's ARE MADE IN CALIFORNIA @ Nummi plant, the Truck beds are made in Mexico and shipped to Nummi in Fremont, California and assembeled there, the beds are also pre painted in Mexico.

So they took the weight of the sticker and ink and rounded up to one pound?

Well I had the sticker as well and when my vehicle was initially registered the weight was reduced by 290 LBS, then I received an updated registration within 3 weeks and the 290 LBS was added back on to reflect the silver sticker values. I contacted the dealership and asked them why the change. This ultimately led to being told I could come in and have the sticker removed or I could remove the yellow sticker because I had not received the towing package and the sticker was there because they normally expect that package to be installed for this truck. No big deal, I took off the sticker and saved myself a 20 mile drive.

I don't know if I was feed a line of bull or not and I do have the 3 leaf springs so I'm just waiting to see how the truck deals with a full load before I push the TSB issue to my dealership.

Ok, this one should throw a wrench in the whole works:

Got my 09 DC 4x4, TRD Offroad, V6 Tow Package...

NO STICKER. ANYWHERE. DOES HAVE 3 LEAF SPRINGS. Build date was 10/08 in Baja.

According to the door sticker, 1200lb payload occupants/cargo. This is the standard printed door sticker, not a yellow added one, no hand written anything anywhere.

Go me for not fitting any molds. That said, we'll see how it handles some decent loads (400 to 500lbs) soon enough...I bought from a pretty good dealer I've dealt with before, I think I'd have good chances of getting the TSB snuck in even though she's an '09...

    Ditto.

    Date 09/08 Mexico.

Got the TSB 4 spring pack replacement approved today.
The dealer service people were clueless as to the 290# sticker.

Raven65 is right, there's no way the tow package weighs more than about 60 lbs. The higher capacity alternator doesn't weigh any more, and the hitch is no more than 45 lbs. Add some extra coolant, and maybe you're at 60-65 lbs. This is almost certainly a TSB dodge. I'm sorry that Toyota is bleeding money right now, but this is the kind of nickle-dime BS that has gotten other companies in trouble. There are enough Tacomas out there with the weak springs that the bean counters are probably having a cow.

I have a 2WD 4cyl. No tow. The only options were SR5 and 7 speaker sound. I have the sticker. Truck bottoms out with 750 lbs mower in bed, or 60 lbs of potting soil. Dealer said they would order me a new suspension over a month ago, but no word yet. guess I need to call them.
