No patience, gonna be atleast a year before the wife gets into something new. Had her out last night looking at FJ's. Her idea. Looks like both just at a slower pace

I'm going to try to make them work. Cut them in half, sleeve the middle, add about 18" more and another leg, and have them welded on. Don't see that that wouldn't work.

I don't have a welder. Going to have to take them somewhere

Check out Eastwood.com. Have some decent products. I'm in the same boat. As soon as we get some nice weather i'll be treating some small rust area's. Trying to stay ahead of it[IMG]

You're in NH now, embrace your inner redneck! I know a few guys who like to mix up some old w30 and little diesel in a spray bottle  and go to town on the undercarriage. My brother likes to get in there with a wire wheel and chase rust, then slap on some rust inhibitor.

My 95 didn't rust out until 2011, and I didn't do shit to the frame. :D

Dirty Dover for now, but work will probably take me closer to Concord or Manch before all is said and done.

I've also known a few old-timers that religiously sprayed the undercarriage with used motor oil. This works fine if you don't mind the mess. I keep my Taco in the garage, so stuff that drips on the concrete floor is a no-go. Right now, I have rust spots on the floor from water dripping off the undercarriage. I'm going to try something before the next winter, but not sure what. I won't use rubberized coating, so something in the oil/wax spectrum would be nice. I'd prefer one that is harder/drier after application than one that stays greasy forever. Waxoyl seems to be popular in the Land Rover (and other British car) community, but expensive and difficult to find in North America. Regardless of the undercoating product, I'll be spraying rust converter/inhibitor long before the undercoating goes on.

I wouldn't want to be driving behind someone who just sprayed down the under carriage with motor oil.

That's cool. Love it up there. Longer rust season though. Sux

:rofl:I'm not saying you should hose that betty, but a smartly applied amount should slowly coat and not drip all over the place.
