Stacy david on Gears did exhaust, cold air intake, and something else. I dont remember but it was all bolt on mods and jumped like 100 ponies. It was pretty impressive. Tied to find the real numbers but couldnt but he chipped it or installed a tuner.

If the F150 would fit in my garage, I would be driving one.
WAY more refined than the Taco.

    Congrats! Great color.

Were you having any issues with your Tacoma or just looking to get a larger truck?

Just watch the weight. The truck is already 5700 lb dry. Adding bigger tires and armor can easily push it over 3 tons. City gas mileage will suffer greatly.

Personal reasons I'd rather not say. More than likely I will buy another taco, maybe a cheap 05, or a cheap first gen to wheel

Cool Deal. Not trying to get personal, so I understand. Enjoy your F150.

Thanks. Lights have been on order, just ordered the weather techs, I have a brand new viair I could try to mount somewhere more than likely under the hood.

I never could understand why ford left that large opening on the bottom where iirc the rad for the intercooler is. First large rock goes through there its toast. They couldnt at least put some plastic mesh or something to deflect any possible road debris?

Ford isn't on the hook for warranty coverage if it happens, and it isn't a safety issue, so no change is made.

As with many things of this nature, forums and aftermarket steps in. @Large: I hope this is on your mod list.

Ahh I love forums, I would never have thought to protect this area, the intercooler is made from aluminum so it's already weak.

After reading a pretty vast amount of information, apparently it's a known issue and apparently ford is "seeking a fix". In the mean time I was thinking of fabbing my own lower grill insert to protect it from larger debris.. kinda. We'll see how it goes.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how the intercooler is mounted in the F250/350 diesel models.

I'm sure the engineers had reasoning for putting the intercoolers where they are instead of in front of the radiator or elsewhere.
