Took Dex to one of the local parks and put him on a tie out so he could run around (our yard isn't big enough.)

He bent the tie out (he's 30lbs..) and broke free from his collar. Looking for a tie out collar now (metal buckle vs plastic) and different types of tie outs than the corkscrew type.

True. Since he'll be with us I think that a collar will be fine. If we just let him out there I'd probably use both.

what exactly are we looking at? It looks like a leg injury to me. Do you have to put him down for that? Is amputation not an option?

If I'm not mistaken it looks like a possible tumor which could indicate bone cancer or bad inflammation of the joint. Either one could lead to the unfortunate decision of having to put your best bud down. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It was an aggressive bone cancer. It was either let her suffer for another few months, and endure a move half way across the US, or put her down. I chose the tougher of the two. I can't watch my best friend suffer
