I actually love the look of the kings over the other shocks. The blue is dope. And come on. They definitely have the best name. You cant be King.

I'm having the toughest time deciding. I been all up and down these threads. :goingcrazy:
I need to order something soon, I have Bruteforce Front Hybrid bumper waiting to be installed. Suspenion will be quite exposed, :D.

So do Kings make for an unbearable stiffness as you go faster, or is it just more noticable? Not looking for crawling or offroading. Honestly, mine is more for daily driving, freeway with occasional driving on country backroads, and on beach, say 50+ mph. I would like it to float over and not rattle my Taco as terrain gets rougher.

in that regards they are the same, the rough ride is the preload when adjusting the spring to adjust your ride height.

I'd go kings actually 44K miles and they have not needed to be touched, yes I do off-road too.

I have kings and the faster i go the smoother it gets, its all about valving not brand.

For what your looking to do, I would suggest Icon due to the more highway driving. The valving is more for DD/weekend warrior. Like stated above, the stiffness is gonna be from how you have your preload set. One option is to run a heavier spring, say a 650 or 700lb spring.

The faster you go the smoother it gets with almost any shock, cause your not falling into the holes, your skipping above it all.

Thanks x3. Yeah, definitely narrowed down to Icon and King. Just concerned on finding a happy medium. I already have TC UCA, so these will be Ext Travel version which ever I choose.

One more question, does sway bar need to be removed with Kings. I know Icon has a relocation. Not sure how important this is, as I may remove anyway but like to have option of putting it back if I don't like the roll for DD.

Just FYI, I went ahead with Icons w/CDC option. Picked up from SDHQ, great price, great service, and in stock.

We will look forward to hearing what you think of the adjustability. Start them off at number "5" and drive it for a few miles, then drop them down to "S" and feel the difference. Good choice!!!

Thanks. So many different opinions on whats too firm and soft, I decided to go this route. Any suggestions on how much preload I should measure before I put them on? I’m happy at 2.5-3” of lift.

Check out the Icon height thread for measurements.

I've got 1.5" of thread showing for right around 2.5" of lift

They should come set at the 2" lift area, that would be a good place to start, get them on the truck, then adjust from there. Let the springs settle a bit then adjust again. After about a week of driving, or a good fun run they should settle

I will be going threw DSM and the those kings are made too fit the Dakar and have a tad longer rod end than the regular 2.5" kings.
At least im guessing its that dunno what else it would be:eek:

At the very bottom of rear shock options there are king 2.5" (Dakar)

    Mitch,
Cool, I found that the Icon thread you started. I will post up measurements when I install, before, after, and after settling. I will see if I can't throw my bumper on a scale here at work to get exact added weight.

    Vince,
I may crank them up a bit right before I install since I will try to get an alignment right afterwards.
