Fording Prep...

I was thinking that it would be nice to have a thread that was strictly on the mods needed to safely ford. I understand that fording high depths is not what the truck was meant for but for those of us that like to push the limits it would be nice to have all that mod information in one spot. i found a thread here called water depth that covered a lot but no pics or indepth instruction. collectively i think you all could make a pretty decent thread. I'm sure there is plenty im missing and I dont know how make the items listed below become a link to a certain portion of the thread when someone posts a good "how to" on this thread. I would appreciate the help. maybe there is already a thread like this and you may point me in the right direction but so far all i have found is threads with bits and pieces and not the whole entire "prep" that would be required to cover all your bases when fording.

Rear/Front diff breather
Tranny breather
Transfer case breather
ADD breather
Fuse box water proofing?
Snorkel
etc...?

Reinforce the door seals. Everything else is easy compared to that. Those fail the fastest.

 

IIRC the front diff tanny and transfer case are already extended to the engine bay

all you really have to do is extent the rear diff breather, most extend to the gas door.

the fuse box is pretty safe already should be fine unless you're realllllly swimming

getting a snorkel would be adviseable depending on how deep you're talking

How does a guy go about reinforcing the door seals? Extra material? and if so what kind?
