Nope, they open your chest by cutting your sternum for an automated defibrillator, or the doctor is a major hack! Unless there is a new method....

Hope the 2nd guy talks like a schoolgirl and sheds some light on the sit rep....

The "hole" was made most likely to insert a suction tube to drain fluid and to possibly reinflate a lung.

The large "gash" is made to also drain fluid around the heart and most likely to repair damage to the heart and also "massage" the heart to get it pumping again.

Yeah I have had to tube a person due to a pneumothorax....never did the above mentioned heart massage, just in the ER when I worked as an ER tech we did heart massage via sternum, however this was almost 20 years ago so my statement is obviously outdated, carry on and quit making me look stoopid, lol.

Makes sense going through the side IMO. Less to go through, sternum is pretty thick especially when your cutting it..

Other than the fact that they were worried that he may have a loop hole for not being read his Miranda rights. But the government pretty much said that they don't have to read him anything for being a bomber haha

No news on his condition or anything though...
