Well, they don't like it when you drive on the sand at sunset.. Kaena is good, but the water may look choppy, and we will all be dirty by the time we get in there. Plus we would be leaving the slammed guys behind

Sandys, but there is no real contrast in the background. Too many people at the boat ramp in Kailua. I'll keep thinking.

It will probably be a month or so till I start. And it will probably take me a month or so to build. I've never built a bumper before so im sti working on where too start also

I've had my little 80a MIG for 10 years and have only started to use it in the last 2. I'm just getting started with gas. It's never too late

 

You can stop by my place for a beer and check it out for your photo shoot. Its right on the water and there is a nice boat ramp able plenty of room for folks to park

 

I have a small 110v mig and a plasma cutter at home that I'll finally know how to use "properly" when I get back.

I think planning it out will be the bulk of the time, once you get it all planned out, building it should be pretty smooth.


You could get away with using compressed air with a plasma and not using Argon/Nitro

I get to start oxy/acetylene next week..finally the slow days should speed up.

 

Maybe even hi Kai boat ramp/harbor if not too crowded

 

If I get a plasma cutter I'll go air compressor all the way. But for the MIG I'm going CO2.

So far I know how I want the bumper to look in my head, just trying to figure out how I want the main frame mounts to work. The. Just need to decide what kind of joints on the ends.

Yea, that might actually work. Decent background with fairly calm waters.

 

What's up everyone? Just found out I'll be moving out to Honolulu this summer. Pretty excited for it and to see some Hawaiian tacomas. Just wanted to swing by yalls thread and say hi!

 

you wont get plasma cutter training. you will do that when you get back. oxy is kinda slow, mig and the machine shop is when it speeds up

 

perhaps, i'm in the 79 day course now, and it'll be 69 later this year...anything out of the classroom will be faster

I probably won't plasma cut much when I get back except for stuff at home, who was your instructor here?

 

i wonder if plasma cutting my frame would be fast and easy..... i need to do the body mount chop to make sure my 35s fit better

 

Newcomb was in charge of the machine side. And I was stationed with loving and wakelee. I don't think anyone else is still there. They cut a lot to make the 79 day course. Like tig titainium and oxy soldering.

 

Fast yes easy yes. Trick is welding it back haha

Aye I know most if not all you guys are lifted but any ideas on how I could raise my tranny crossmember?? I'm thinking after recon of raising the crossmember so I don't scrape as much I already got stuck on my own driveway carrying a person in the truck and I still need to drop the back another 2 inches

I figure I ask since you guys are on the topic of cutting and welding

i would but bushings/spacers between the cross member and the frame. you could get some for free if you know a machine shop/ someone with a lathe
