Went to have my 5000 mile oil change today. Looked under the truck at my filter and it was covered in mud. The tech said that he changed it. I made him look and he said that he may have forgot to change it. Then he told me that my truck does not need to have service til 10000. I told him that the 2.7 is at 5000. He did not believe me til I showed him the book that came with my truck. Then he said that he will change the filter. I told him that I want it all done again and I need to be under the truck to watch. After about 10 min. he said ok I could watch. At the end I got the change with a new filter, oil and washer for the plug. This is the first and last time I will not do my own oil change. They were suppose to replace my mirrors because they were scratched when I got the truck. They told me that they could not find my mirrors. Also I did not get my tires rotated but I would rather do it myself. If you use toyota care check your stuff before you leave.

Crap like this always makes me paranoid when bringing a vehicle to a dealer. Luckily the Toyota dealer near me is squared-away.

Yeah, well it's shit but seems like this always happens. Flat rate doesn't help IMO.

Maybe they use pre-mudded oil filters.

It's a Toyota off road filter. Usually they are special order.

Last time I went to dealer for oil change, I ended up leaving with Only 3 lug nuts on my wheels. That's completely unaccecptable.

I should add that this was in Toyota of Riverside. Terrible place

What are you talking about. Everyone knows you only need 2 lug nuts and the rest are just for looks.

At least the op didn't have too bad of an experience, I've seen dealerships forget to put oil back in. Guess how well that turns out...

Never had a problem with the oil change I always mark my filter and torque stripe the drain plug. But for my 5K & 10K the tires were never rotated. I would mark one and check it after the service. NOPE! Try again guys.... Bunch of lazy pieces of shit. I got tired of having to send it back, so on the 15K I reminded them ahead of time. The first time I took it in, they asked me if like a wash... Why bother? It came wet with soap still on it... I'm not picky, and I don't expect a full detail but COME ON at least pretend like you give a shit..

Took my 08 fj tt to the dealership to have my tires balance because of steeeing shake.. I took delivery of it without cking since it was in a hurry.. once I got home noticed a deep scratch circle that basically went ariund the the lugs all 3rims had indentations and one lug stud was broken!.. only good thing was steering shake was gone.. called dealership talked to one of the service manager and they replaced all 3rims and installed new lug at no cost.. been going to them ever since..

Had a few oil changes with some minor incidents but they were quick to take care of it .. I guess it all depends on which dealership you go too.. some actually care about customer service

The local dealer here was pretty good until recently. My last few experiences were not promising.

Simple warranty work, replace the rear door window weatherstrips under warranty, wrong parts ordered. After days of waiting, they were changed and the interior trim clips were not secure with the trim panels falling off.

Same work order, replace the two rubber molding strips on the roof on account of the TSB. Strips were not pushed in and seated, would have been lost during the first high speed highway run.

Same work order, replace the headlight on account of them having small cracks in the clear lens, this one was dangerous. The light were aimed for light 50 feet max in front of you. Nothing beyond that lit up.

Adjusted the lights myself. When it went back for the rear window moldings I asked about checking the light alignment. I was told they previously had the special alignment tool I read about in the service manual, but they did not have it any longer. I was told the guy did his best just aiming them on a wall. Yes this is in the manual also, but tells you how to do it properly.

Lastly, went in to buy a TRD Corrolla filter for the wife's car. It has already had one installed before. The parts guy sort of argued they don't make one. Called the next day to one of the few remaining good guys, looked it right up and had it by 10 am.

From what I can tell, this dealership has fired or had most of their quality leave.

Sad to see it, but welcome to the almighty dollar, lazy workers, and poor management.

Best part about the warranty work was the phone call I received about my experience. I asked the girl you are joking, right. Told her what happened and was informed there would be a follow up call with her boss...guess what? no call.

Other stuff from other dealers...tire shop put the lift almost through the wifes old Civic floorboards. Then when questioned and told they had initiated the reports to cover the damage and come back tomorrow to show the manager, guess what...magically the car never had been in there for tire work.

Daughters car, at the time a new Eclipse, went in for warranty brake work. Told her they were installing new parts, nope they were recut rotors, but better still they forgot to tighten both front wheels. She drove 175 on the highway back to school, said it still had a little vibration from the brakes. I explained, to take it to the dealer in Orlando. She made an appointment, but days before the appointment called in tears afraid to drive the car. I told her to pull into safe parking lot, and check the wheel nuts. She set the phone beside her as she went to check them. My angel daughter (not) could be heard in the background with some foul but appropriate words. all were loose but many turns. And to think, even after her going back to that dealer they would do nothing, then they called many times wanting us to buy a new car.

Enough before I get really worked up and tell you about low quality aircraft repairs from BS artists and scoundrel shops. If you know an airline mechanic, ask them where they send the airliners for heavy maintenance work. Not many places in the US anymore. PK

OP that sucks! I always have a rough day when I have to take mine in for the interval oil changes... The "kids" at the dealer here seem to treat my truck well. I tell them not to complimentary wash it cuz they have to drive it down the street to do it... first time they did wash it I caught the dude enjoying a "spirited" drive back to the lot. All i ask is that you respect my shit, seriously...

You couldn't pay me to have someone else wash my truck. They are ruining your paint with the brushes they use to clean it. You might as well wash it with sandpaper IMHO.

No brushes... They just have a pressure washer cart with a soap gun and a deionizer for the rinse water.
