Idaho BS thread in the PNW

my out of shape ass just finished a continuous 2.37 mile run at 9:13 mph pretty easily. Had a water bottle the whole time but never opened it, and I got back and wasn't even winded 30 seconds after I walked in the front door. 5k here I come!

 

Way to feel proud of yourself spring chicken.

 

Aww ok that makes sense now. I could have sworn he said spider gears when I talked to him about it but guess I got mixed up with "side" gear.

 

AWESOME! I would love to be able to slide like that! This summer some friends and I are going to try to tackle Bogus Basin road. 14.5 miles and 117 turns...hopefully we dont die.

Now when you say 9:13 mph... do you mean a 9:13 pace (minutes per mile)? Cuz you would kick my ass in a race if you are running at 9.13mph. A 9:13 pace would put us about on par though.

Yeah that is confusing since 2 of the spider gears are techinically called side gears too... It is basically the little gear that slides into the spider gears in the diff (like how the rear axles slide into the spider gears in the rear diff).

Ah yes confusing indeed so in a better sense he blew up his add not diff. Since wasnt it the gear in the ADD that blew up?? He was telling me about the reason he ended up getting the locker for the front and it was because it was going to cost somewhere around the same to repair.

 

Well, when you pull the ADD off of the diff this shaft is still inside of the diff. haha. When I re-geared Brant and I had a hard time getting the c-clip on that side gear to let go so I could put that side gear in the new re-geared diff. Ended up having to take the clamshell apart and punch it out from the back. haha.

So I don't know that I would say he blew up the ADD or the diff, but the gear/shaft that goes in between them.
