If the whole " jail time is a good deterent " arguement were true , why would the US have the highest per capita incarceration rate on the planet ?

Death penalty for the guy that came to the US to kill Americans or go there to kill the guys that would sponsor / train / volunteer to be the guys that would come here to kill Americans

it's not the jail time...it's a life sentence of hard labor. this was my point if you read my earlier post.

and your second question makes my point...bring back a life sentence of hard labor, and the incarceration rate would probably go down.

again, my point: an evil mind has no fear of death...nor do most criminals. but even one who is evil would hate a lifetime of hard labor.

It is more complicated than that. It creates money for the Jail And overloads the entire Justice System. For each inmate the Jail receives a said amount of money from the Feds. It really is a fucked up system.

 

I can't tell if this was mentioned among all the arguing about what should be done to the guy.
But the first suspect that died was interviewed by the FBI at the request of a foreign government 2 years ago. He was suspected of being an Islam Extremist and thought to be preparing to go overseas to join a group. He and his family were interviewed but nothing showed terrorist activity or thoughts.
