I'm seriously considering a complete Icon setup for mid-travel for my next suspension setup.

Definitely, Icon resies with Icon uca's and allpro leafs is what I want now. I've only had my current setup for a little over a month... Haha

Honestly not sure. At a mod day traded with a member. He upgraded to tundra, I got fairly new drilled and slotted rotors. Worked out

Finished cleaning up my craigslist All Pro tube bumper. About 9 hours total over the course of the weekend. At least 8 of those hours were prep time. Started off with a wire wheel/wire cup wheel on the angle grinder. Then went to a flap disc on the angle grinder. Then scotch brite pad to round it out. Cleaned/ degreased with mineral spirits, and I was on my way. Anyone prepping used armor, I highly recommend using a wire wheel then flap disc on an angle grinder. Not that it was a fast process, but it was relatively easy. You just need patience. I took it right down to the metal. Besides some heavily pitted areas, it got nice and shiny.

It was rusty and looked like crap when I picked it up:

For reference, the sliders that came with it. This is basically the condition of the bumper before prepping it.

After 8+ hours of prep it's ready to prime:

2 coats Rustoleum Self etching metal primer:

2 Coats Rustoleum Bedliner in a can. I debated whether to just plain rattle can it, or try the bed liner in a can. After extensive searching, I came to this conclusion. On sliders it doesn't really matter either way, especially in area's where they heavily salt/ sand the roads. After not long all the shit on the roads basically sandblasts whatever you use on sliders off. But, it seems people have had pretty good luck with the spray on bedliner on bumpers since that are not subject to as much of the sandblasting as sliders. I prepped the shit out of it, so hopefully it holds up decently to normal conditions. I don't really expect it to hold up to smashing into rocks and crap, but I can easily touch it up. Time will tell...

That's it for now. Going to let it cure in the garage until next Friday since I won't have a chance to put it on until then anyways.

God that is a shitload of prep and patience. I just refinished a hitch receiver that was nowhere near in that bad of shape, and it took a long time with all the crazy angles and trying to keep wet edges, too. Hats off for saving these.

Thanks. Honestly I could have done more, but I needed to get it prepped and primed this weekend. I don't really have time do do more anytime soon. I wish I could have gotten it media/ sandblasted. But, I had the wire wheel/ wire cup/ scotch brites, mineral spirits, flap disc, and primer already. So the only thing it cost me was my time and ~$16 for the aerosol bedliner.

Excellent comparison and they do look virtually identical. Thanks for chiming in.

Wasn't today but a few days ago our local club had a little get together as a final check-in before Cruise Moab that begins this coming weekend. Snapped a few photos of some of the FJ40s that were there.
